Our Scottish ale strain is ideally suited for the strong, malty ales of Scotland. This strain is very versatile, and is often used as a “House” strain as it ferments neutral and clean. Higher fermentation temperatures will result in an increased ester profile.

For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

Killer Yeast (in a good way)
I am making a classic American stout and this yeast is absolutely killing it. Love how quickly it kicked in. Love how consistent it has been.

Wasn't my favorite yeast
Used it 2x and got sulfur both times. I temp controlled, rested and still got sulfur...

Great Scott!
Nice Scottish Ale yeast - used it for 70- shilling recipe, attenuates well to style. Started fermenting on day 2, no off flavors. Lets the malty flavor and aroma shine through. Wyeast is very reliable.

Vigorous strain that seemed to find its sweet spot at 64 degrees (steady, even fermentation at that temp for my batch). Left behind rich malty flavors and settled out thoroughly in the fermenter. Beer was OG of 76 and finished at 16.

Great Imperial Stout Strain
Don't let the word "Scottish" fool you. This isn't just for Scottish Ales. I have used it with great success on a few imperial size beers. I like that it attenuates slightly lower than others and leaves a bit more body.

Great flavor
I used this on a red that I brewed. Worked well for 6 gallons without letting package bloat up. I would buy this again.

One of my favorites
Love this yeast! Easily my favorite Scottish Ale yeast. Provides the great complexity and maltiness that you expect in this style. Easily handles both light and heavy versions. Just used it for a Strong Scotch Ale with an O.G. of 1.111, and it fermented down to 1.020 without any problem!
