For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

"This versatile yeast ferments extremely well in dark worts." What does this mean, exactly?
AJ T on May 12, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi AJ - The yeast works well in porters, stouts, etc. (dark beers).
What is the shelve life of this yeast?
david allred on Nov 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Around 6 months, but check the expiration date on the bag and use before that date. If it's been refrigerated, even a few months longer.

Stopped fermenting
I’m y sure what happened but my wort bubbled a little for about two days and then stopped. I just pitched more yeast (dry yeast). I’m not sure if I did something wrong but this is the first time I’ve had a wort that just will not ferment.

Tight Yeast
With proper brewing techniques this yeast settles out quick and forms a firm yeast cake that does not disturb easily. Makes Commercial clear bear without any finings.

Great quality yeast
This was my first time using a smack pack, but once I understood how to locate the internal pouch and break it open the rest was a breeze. I much prefer the constancy of this over WL's Pure Pitch which is very thick.

Strong fermentation
Good to go without starter (although others recommend). Had a good week long fermentation that started within the first 12 hours.

Seems fine
I made a starter with it which seemed to ferment and grow normally. I haven't yet tasted the first batch (an Irish Red Ale) that I'm fermenting with it, but it is about ready to bottle. I've used it in the past and think it is fine for stouts and some other styles.

A minor disappointment is that I liked the old graphic on the Wyeast packs, which showed a lovely colorful view of Mt. Hood, a lot better than the new one.

Great In Irish Reds
I love using this yeast in my Irish Red recipe. Gives an authentic flavor and lets the toasty and caramel notes come through.

Favorite Yeast For Stouts
I've brewed a few different stout recipes using this yeast and have been very happy with all of them. This yeast really gives a nice balance to a stout and just enough yeast character to let you know it's there. It doesn't over attenuate your stout which really adds to the nice full mouth feel that I enjoy, but still has a crisp finish. If you like rich full bodied stouts, this is a yeast you should try.

First liquid will never go back
Used with an Irish red being my first time using liquid yeast i did not know what to expect. It swelled up after only 3 hours and added far more complex flavor to the beer my previous batches with dry yeast could not compare too
