(Makes 5 gallons) Jim was looking for a dark, smooth, creamy mouth feel stout just like an Australian stout he had tasted years ago. Over the years, Jim found a clone that was close but needed some small changes. After many trials and test batches, he came up with this recipe that is very drinkable when it is fresh. It will get smoother with a couple months of aging and creaminess added by the lactose makes this a very good winter warming stout. Jim hopes you enjoy this beer as much as he has. Jim recommends WLP004 Irish ale yeast.

Absolutely Love this. Serve it to "non-craft beer drinkers," and they are hesitant to try, now ask for it everytime they're over to visit. I think they're here for the beer.

This is my favorite beer I've ever brewed in the 20ish different recipes I've tried. I would actually buy this in 6 packs from the store! It comes out very creamy with a great balance of flavors. I had several friends over who don't like dark beers at all and they absolutely loved it.

If you can be patient and drink on something else, let this beer age for a month or more to really see it at its best. I used some of the recommended WLP04 Irish ale yeast.

I can't put this over enough, just buy it!

Let it condition for a month
Opened first bottle after 14 days of conditioning and it was just ok. I opened the next bottle after 30 days and it was amazing. High marks from everyone that i shared with. I will definitely make this again.

Great Milk Stout
Great Extract recipe. Not that the style is supposed to be, but I found myself wanting a little more chocholatey flavor, but tastes great. Would recommend.

Awesome Milk Stout
The stout was exceptional, smooth, creamy. About 1.5 in primary, 2 weeks in secondary. My buddies tried to drink it all when we played poker. Goes great with cigars! I also tried the Sweet Stout recipe, but Jim's recipe is more what I wanted. Highly recommended.

Nice Milk Stout
I've made many Stouts in the past but this was my first Milk Stout and the results were great, smooth and creamy mouth feel with medium to full body. I modified the recipe with some flaked oats and some Bourbon Chips.
The Bourbon effect was minimal but noticeable although I would prefer more Bourbon flavor.

the best milk stout ever
brewed about 5 different milk stouts 9 months ago...after aging in the beer cave a taste test was done.....the smoothest most flavorful beer this one, and let it mellow...excellent beer sir!!!

Great Stout
Third batch of my brewing experience. Awesome flavor. Non beer drinkers like it. Beer drinkers see the dark color and expect something harsh. To their surprise, it's mellow. I will definitely brew this again next Winter.

On the whole, a really good brew. Smooth and creamy, even if a bit on the thin side.

A most excellent brew. Hints of coffee and chocolate as expected but not quite as much "milk" (lactate) finish as I hoped. I will definitely brew this again but perhaps add a bit more lactate.
