The new and improved 55L FermZilla brought to you by the critical minds and engineers behind the original Fermentasaurus Gen 1. Although the original Fermentasaurus was revolutionary at the time of its conception, there's always room for improvement. This is partly due to the strong community of Fermentasaurus users who have helped push for an improved conical unitank.

The FermZilla is the perfect option for brewers that want all the advantages of a conical fermenter without the price tag of a full blown stainless steel unit. It allows you to dump trub, harvest yeast, and with the addition of the 55L FermZilla Pressure Kit (available in both stainless and plastic), you can carbonate and serve – all in one vessel! The clear PET tank allows you to visually monitor fermentation activity and is pressure rated to 2.4 Bar (34.8 psi), which means you can ferment under pressure, reducing ester and fusel alcohols in your finished beer. This also gives you the ability to perform pressure transfers. If you prefer to move your finished beer to a keg or other vessel, you can do so with little to no oxygen exposure.
New and Improved:
1. Larger Dump Valve - 3" butterfly dump valve is more resistant to clogging from large amounts of trub
2. Larger Opening - 4.75" top port opening allows for easier cleaning
3. Less Headspace - more appropriately sized for 10-gallon batches. Purging the headspace of oxygen is easier and more effective.
What's Included:
  • FermZilla 55L Tank with Butterfly Dump Valve
  • Reinforced Stainless Steel Stand
  • Top Lid with PRV (35 psi)
  • 1000 ml Collection Container & Lid
  • 3-Piece Airlock
  • Graduation Sticker
  • Adhesive Thermometer
  • Strap Wrench
  • Spare Seals

  • 55 L (13.2 gal) Total Volume
  • Pressure Rated to 2.4 Bar (34.8 psi)
  • Height in Stand - 40.1"
  • Height w/ Airlock - 43.5"
  • Tank Diameter - 13.9"
  • Diameter in Stand - 15.7"
  • Lid & Collection Container Ports - 28 mm PCO 1881 threads
  • Temperature Rating:
    • When not under pressure, do not expose to liquids above 131°F
    • When under pressure, do not expose to any temperatures above 95°F*

*Please note that the temperature rating for the FermZilla tank is lower when using it under pressure. When not under pressure, it is perfectly safe to transfer wort into the tank below 131°F or to use hot liquids below this temp for cleaning. When under pressure, make sure to keep your fermentation temperature below 95°F and keep the fermenter in an environment that is below 95°F ambient. This is especially important when fermenting with kveik yeast. These strains are known to ferment hot if no temperature control is being used. Exceeding the temperature rating may compromise the tank, leading to a shorter life span or sudden failure to maintain pressure. Even with proper use, we recommend replacing the tank every two years.

Please note: when using the FermZilla under pressure, you must perform a water pressure check to ensure your connections are leak proof. To do this, fill your FermZilla up with water, apply at least 15 psi pressure, and check for leaks around all caps and threads.

Pressure Stress
If you use the FermZilla to ferment under pressure, or you use CO2 to pressure transfer or force carbonate your finished beer, it is very important that you conduct semi-annual inspections of your tank. Even with perfect care, the FermZilla tank may show signs of wear from pressure stress over time. We recommend visually inspecting your tank for stress creases or other signs of wear once or twice a year. A hydro test should be conducted every two years, even if no signs of wear are found. The process is simple:

  • Fill the tank to the brim with water
  • Replace the Red PRV with a Green PRV rated to 4.5 BAR or higher
  • Pressurize the tank to 4 BAR (58 psi)
  • Check for leaks, then replace the Red PRV when finished

If leaks or potential points of failure are found, replace the tank before you continue using pressure with your FermZilla.

General Care
Taking good care of your FermZilla begins with cleaning and sanitizing the unit before and after use. The tank is made from food-grade PET, which is beautifully clear, but can be sensitive to long soaks in cleaners and acid-based sanitizers. In general, we do not recommend leaving products like PBW or StarSan soaking in the tank for more than an hour. Extended soaks have the potential to degrade the PET material and shorten the lifespan of the tank.

Having Trouble Removing The Lid?
The easiest way to take off the lid is to undo the lid ring then use a screw driver or faucet wrench to lever the lid up as shown in the animated GIF below:

Perfect companion for Brewzilla
I gave up homebrewing because it was too much work for an old fella. Fermzilla and Brewzilla made it possible and affordable to brew large batches faster and easier than ever before. I feel like I could brew all the time now.

Love it
Got this because of experience with one I already own. Easy set up. Fermentation under pressure for a cyser really cut back on how much time it needed to age. It was drinkable green. So I got a 2nd one. It's worth getting the stainless steel pressure kit.
Love this thing so much that I bought a 2nd on. Fermentation under pressure is the way to go.

Was great until last night when it violently exploded
I have brewed 3 times with the FermZilla, and up until now it has been fantastic. The engineering of the product is truly remarkable. If anything, it should have warnings that you should not tighten things to a normal degree. Everything fits superbly with minimum force. Unfortunately, that might have contributed to last night's explosion. I isolated the yeast harvester with the dump valve and was letting it finish settling overnight. (Disconnecting the yeast harvester makes a yeasty mess consistently.) At some point the yeast demonstrated their might and created so much pressure in this small vessel that it exploded, sending yeast across the garage and shards of ?polycarbonate? in a smaller blast radius. Fortunately, the 10 gallons of beer is still pristine and the garage smells great . . . for now.

DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE MIGHT OF YEAST! Do not close the dump valve for more than a few hours if there is yeast in the collector! The dump valve is truly air tight and water tight.
Beware the power of yeast. Pressure can be dangerous.

Nice product
Arrived assembled just needed some minor tightening. A little disappointed that the plastic is not thicker but it serves a purpose just fine.

Love It
I wanted to get back into brewing and found this gem. I read a lot of complaints about leaks, but I have not had any trouble. First ferment is a Mead, but cannot wait to use for beer. I look forward to pressure fermenting and even running glycol cooling through it. Lots of options. Thanks too whom ever created this masterpiece.

Great as a Multi-tank
This vessel is amazing, so far 2 brews in it.
For as inexpensive as it is, it is so capable.
I would like to see a bit thicker plastic, as it is pretty flimsy when not pressurized, and this can be a pain as it wants to crumple when trying to take off the trub collection parts (those things really do require the removal tool!)
I am going to pursue a replacement cap, as the pressure relief valve seems to leak.

Leaking Lid
I have tried several attempts to get the lid not to leak when fermenting under pressure. I purchased another lid but still leaking. I have the Fermentasaurus and no leak problems.

Looks good so far BUT does not come with SS Handle
In the Video on Kegland for this product they show how they were going to have integrated plastic handles, but they found the quality to be lacking and did not want people to drop it so they "went back to the drawing board" to redesign it with SS handles. Even the Instructions shows the SS Handles. The Video they said it made the cost a little more but it was worth it for the quality. Then it comes and says that the SS handles are an accessory. Morebeer does not even have this listed as an accessory Even Kegland has it listed as FermZilla - Replacement 304 Stainless Steel Handle
In Stock
$12.95 Meaning Replacement... Not accessory.
This I found to be very disappointing. I don't blame Morebeer at all. I will be putting this on Keglands page too.
