Stainless Steel Pressure Kit for 27L FermZilla

Stainless Steel Pressure Kit for 27L FermZilla

With the FermZilla Pressure Kit you can ferment under pressure, carbonate, and serve without ever needing to move your beer out of the fermenter. The kit inlcudes two stainless female threaded ball lock fittings with barbs, which thread onto the existing openings atop the FermZilla's lid. For the beverage out, you'll have a silicone dip tube with stainless steel float, allowing you to always draw from the clearest beer at the top of the tank. Pick up the Pressure Kit and turn your FermZilla into a true unitank!

This pressure kit features a 23" silicone dip tube, which is appropriately sized for the 27L FermZilla.

Fermenting Under Pressure:
The pressure kit allows for fermenting under pressure, which will reduce esters and fusel alcohol production. This means you can ferment at warmer temperatures than you normally would, even making lagers at room temperature. Most commerical beer is fermented under pressure simply due to the size of commercial tanks and the pressure that is created by the column of beer. It is one of the distinct differences between homebrewing and brewing on a commercial scale. The FermZilla's lid already comes with a built-in pressure relief valve that will blow at 35 psi; the pressure kit simply allows you to add CO2 through the ball lock fitting. We strongly recommend that you also purchase an adjustable pressure relief valve, or spunding valve, which allows you to set a lower pressure. It's always a good idea to have two relief valves on the FermZilla anytime the unit is under pressure.
Carbonating, Transferring, and Serving:
When you are fermenting under pressure the beer is already carbonated when you are done fermenting. You can control the level of carbonation by using a spunding valve. This means you can eliminate kegging and serve directly from the fermenter. We love this idea but there will probably still be times that you want to keg. Attach a beer line from the FermZilla's bev out to your keg and enjoy the easiest kegging experience ever.  You can also choose to send carbonated beer through a beer filter on the way to your keg.  When applying pressure with a CO2 tank also make sure that you have a functional relief valve on your CO2 regulator.
Eliminate Oxidation:
Since the beer always has a CO2 blanket through fermentation and during any transfers out, oxidation is eliminated. When you cold crash you won't be sucking air back in through an airlock.
Key Features:
  • Ferment beer under pressure to reduce ester and fusel alcohol production
  • Always draw clear beer with the floating dip tube
  • Keg beer that has already been carbonated
  • Use CO2 to push beer into a keg or through a filter into a keg
  • Eliminate kegging altogether by carbonating and serving directly from the FermZilla

Please note: pressure kit does not include the lid pictured in the example photo. The ball locks and floating dip tube are installed on the FermZilla's existing lid.

Is this the same as the Fermentasaurus Pressure Kit?
Ray Fuller on Aug 7, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Ray, it's not the same but similar. The lids on the Fermzilla's come fixed with the body connect threads and are covered by plastic caps. The Fermzilla Pressure Kit includes the body connects to install on the existing Fermzilla lid, the stainless float, and silicone dip tube.
How long is the silicone hose on the kit?
scott hoppel on Sep 4, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Scott, the silicone dip tube is 23.5" long (60 cm).
Is the tubing susceptible to clogging during transfers? I can’t cold crash so I’d be worried about hops, coconut, etc. that doesn’t drop out potentially clogging the pickup when transferring to a keg.
Chris Stackhouse on Mar 14, 2020
BEST ANSWER: It's difficult to say for sure. It depends on the size of the particle. If it can fit through the ball lock fitting, it should fit through the tubing. If it gets stuck you can always push CO2 back through the tube to blow it out.
What size threads are inside the fittings? Or phrased differently, what size are the threaded posts on the fermzilla lid?
jeff royster on Sep 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Jeff - they are 28 mm PCO 1881 threads, the same thread type found on most plastic soda bottles.

Works but needs some minor mods
I first installed the kit with the length of tubing that was supplied. It needs to be shorter. My first time transferring to a keg it hung up on the side and was sucking air. Im also am thinking of installing a stainless steel weight of some fashion to the end of the pick up tube to help with this

Great idea- one shortcoming
This works very well for transferring to keg. Works for bottling also if not fully carbonated. If carbonated a beer gun will help.
The one problem I had was the silicone tubing was too small; it fit on the hose barb with minor difficulty and onto the float tube with major difficulty.

Seem well built
Seems like good quality. However the fermentor leaks but I don't think it's the fault of these things.

suck it out
it was suggested to trim the hose however the ball floats-so I'm not sure if it is necessary-however I did it. I really like it.

Still a game changer!
This is the 1st time fermenting under pressure, I used it to transfer the last batch under pressure to keg with spunding valve it worked out standing, Hopefully it’ll hold hop aroma in under pressure? Just watching fermentation, the kreusen filled and rose to the top of the Fermzilla, and it seems to cook with a little more time, than just cook in 3-5 days, anyway it’s exciting to watch the Citronic Tangerine IPA, 1st time brewing this, I still believe this whole setup is a game changer. Works very well
I ordered the Fermzilla and the pressure kit together but for some reason they got shipped separately all the way to Canada costing a lot in shipping. I hope this does not happen to other folks. The products are great.

Great kit to transfer from fermenter to keg with less trube.
The Fermzilla pressure kit is great. I'm able to ferment under pressure and when fermentation is complete I then transfer the beer into my keg with ease. Thank you.
