This stainless steel thermowell is your best option of monitoring temperatures in the 27L or 55L FermZilla. Since the thermowell installs into the lid, the thermowell will be well positioned in the middle of the fermenter to provide an accurate core temperature reading. On the bottom side of the FermZilla's lid you'll find several convenient drill locations already molded into the plastic. The thermowell is long enough to work with either size FermZilla (or other fermenters!), so if you need to cut the tube down a bit, we recommend using one of these Pipe Cutters. The FermZilla will still be pressurizable after installing the thermowell, just be careful to drill the hole no wider than needed to fit the Duotight bulkheads.

If I install the Thermowell does it still holds the pressure ?
Carlos Chávez on Feb 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I haven't used it under pressure yet, but of all the fittings you can add to the lid, this one has the weakest seal. Time will tell if it can hold pressure, but I would expect this one to be the most likely to fail.
Is there any way to buy only the 8mm duotight bulkhead? I need to be able to switch out thermowell between two lids.
Cayde Ellender on Nov 18, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can buy duotight fittings. Personally I bought multiple thermowells rather than move the thermowell back and forth. I didn't think the fittings would seal as well after a few swaps and can have multiple fermeneters going at the same time.
Does this Thermowell interfere with the TempTwister? I assume they won't conflict, but I don't see any photos or documentation with both installed.
Alex McMillen on Jun 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, it fits inside the coil of the Temp Twister. I have brewed several times with mine and it has performed well.
Has anyone been using this on beer? Any ill effects on flavor?
Brennan Doerr on Oct 2, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I use it with my All Rounder. Shouldn't affect your beer, if cleaned and sanitized, because it is made of stainless steel.

Good product but Duotight Thread Stripped
After a few weeks, I finally got to install my Thermowell. After drilling the hole and getting a precise fit for the duotight I noticed that the lid was too thick and the nut was not able to fully grab to the duotight. Unfortunately, this stripped the duotight fitting and I cannot get a tight seal on the lid. :(
I wish the threaded portion of the duiotight would be longer to increase the grip and prevent stripping.

Now I am stuck with a hole in my lid and will have to buy a replacement lid and a new duotight fitting and try installing this again. Luckily I had an extra fermenter, otherwise it would have been a brewers nightmare.

Thermowell is garbage
Strips threading after drilling through, should have additional threading to make this work properly. Garbage.

It's works ok
I like the option to add a thermowell. It's a better option for my needs than the brewmometer sticker that comes with the Fermzilla. The main issues I have with it are the location of the thermowell in the lid and the bulkhead seal. The thermowell is positioned just inside the cooling coil when you install both in the lid together. I'm not totally convinced the temp being read by the thermowell isn't being influenced by the temp of the cooling coil. The other issue is that the bulkhead is too short and it comes with a metal nut. The metal nut will barely thread onto the bulkhead and you have to put a lot of tension on the bulkhead and o-ring to catch enough threads to hold it in place. I'm not totally convinced it won't eventually break or leak under pressure.

Works great. I wish there wouldv'e been the recommendation to buy an additional lid with purchase or maybe include a plug to use with the Duotight fitting ($1.50 additional purchase). o
Once you drill the hole for it, you can't use the lid without it.

Please don't strip, Please don't strip, Plea.... Ohhhh
First things first - Much love to Kegland, their products are fantastic.

My only complaint is the DuoTight through bulkhead connection. Can't count how many times I've fished a SS nut out of my beer...

The SS nut is too short - meaning it goes up into the pressure cap too far to get a good hold of and it strips the plastic male threads of the DuoTight.

I would much rather a plastic wingnut-type connection that I could hold onto and just snug up the tightness and a longer male threaded section to verify the threads are synced before tightening.

Instead, I have to make a choice - use a wrench under the cap (that really doesn't fit in the hole where the nut sits under the pressure cap either) and tighten praying not to strip the plastic DuoTight threads

Try to hold the nut with my fingers and tighten the DuoTight fitting from above and pray the threads are lined up just right so the SS nut doesn't eat the plastic threads and you guessed it - Strip the fitting.

Works as intended.
It took me a bit to get the lock nut tight and leak free, however once I did it works like a charm.
