Description

This stainless steel thermowell is your best option of monitoring temperatures in the 27L or 55L FermZilla. Since the thermowell installs into the lid, the thermowell will be well positioned in the middle of the fermenter to provide an accurate core temperature reading. On the bottom side of the FermZilla's lid you'll find several convenient drill locations already molded into the plastic. The thermowell is long enough to work with either size FermZilla (or other fermenters!), so if you need to cut the tube down a bit, we recommend using one of these Pipe Cutters. The FermZilla will still be pressurizable after installing the thermowell, just be careful to drill the hole no wider than needed to fit the Duotight bulkheads.

The best way to get your temp when pressure fermenting. The other holes in All Rounder used by spunding valve and floating dip tube.

If I install the Thermowell does it still holds the pressure ?
Carlos Chávez on Feb 17, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Mine didn’t seal at first. Then I watched the kegland YouTube video. Cutting the notch in the SS rod was the key! I scored it with the pipe cutter where it was supposed to fit in the duotight, then pushing it up to lock in the duotight sealed it off. Been solid at 1 bar.
Is there any way to buy only the 8mm duotight bulkhead? I need to be able to switch out thermowell between two lids.
Cayde E on Nov 18, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes you can buy duotight fittings. Personally I bought multiple thermowells rather than move the thermowell back and forth. I didn't think the fittings would seal as well after a few swaps and can have multiple fermeneters going at the same time.
Does this Thermowell interfere with the TempTwister? I assume they won't conflict, but I don't see any photos or documentation with both installed.
Alex M on Jun 4, 2020
BEST ANSWER: No, it fits inside the coil of the Temp Twister. I have brewed several times with mine and it has performed well.
Has anyone been using this on beer? Any ill effects on flavor?
Brennan D on Oct 2, 2020
BEST ANSWER: These are the best I’ve seen. I have two of them and use them with my two Speidel fermenters. They have improved my Pilsners and lagered ales by giving me the internal fermenter temp which compliments the external freezer temperature. I use an Inkbird to control the freezer and an Engbird thermometer probe inside the thermowell.

Cheapest and best solution for my Fermentation Fridge.
I've bought 3 of these - one for each fermenter - just too easy install and use. Put a quick hole in a lid and install the bulkhead. Use some star san to lube the tube and insert for correct fit...I cut the excess off with a tubing cutter and flare with a pair of needle nose pliers. Done. Sanitary. Quick. Cheap. Save the offcuts - you never know when you need a little Stainless Steel tubing to attach a blowoff line or with a duotight bulkhead.

Bulkhead too short
I have the same problem as others. The threaded portion of the bulkhead is too short. I can't get it tight enough and it leaks.

Another fantastic product from down under
Outstanding quality. I'm running a Temp Twister, so I put a very gentle bend in the thermowell tube to separate it from the coils just a little.

Bulkhead is too short
The DuoTight bulkhead is too short to properly install into the lid. The nut that secures it in place constantly falls off. This becomes a major issue when you are expecting the fermentation vessel to be airtight for pressure fermentation.

It's an obvious issue, since Kegland now sells a Gen3 builkhead, which is longer and I would assume, solve this issue. But that fact that you can still buy the older, flawed version, is a bit disheartening.
The item they are selling is the Gen2 bulkhead.

Bargain!
This thermowell is much longer that the more expensive ones from other brands. You don't have to have a fermzilla to use it. You could insert it into any bung that is meant for a thermowell.

Threads Too Short - What A Bummer
This *could* be amazing, but sadly the duo tight bulkhead supplied is poorly designed. The bulkhead barely makes it’s way through the lid of the Fermzilla, leaving almost no thread for the nut to grab onto on the other side. This makes it exceptionally easy to strip the threads while tightening it in place. The threaded portion needs to be at least 1/4 inch longer. More Beer and KegLand really ought to stop selling this until they fix it. As it stands, I’ve ordered replacement bulkheads to replace stripped ones and I’m just crossing my fingers it won’t happen again.
