Description

23 - 31 °L - Weyermann® - Much like Munich, but with more aroma. Lends mouthfeel and great aromatics to the beer. Has a nice almost biscuit flavor. Use to help replicate the maltiness and mouthfeel found in decoction mashes. Could be overpowering if used as more than 20% of the grain bill. Must be mashed. Improves flavor stability, fullness, and imparts a reddish color to dark, amber, and red-colored beers. Great for use in Dark Lagers and Red Ales.

Good Malt, Questionable Milling
I believe that this malt adds a lot to the overall taste of a pilsner and I use it in place of a decoction mash. It does add a little bit more darkness than I would like, but that is a choice and compromise that I am willing to make. I will say that I am disappointed in the milling. I opened the package and initially could not even tell that it had been milled. I milled again with my old corona mill and everything was fine (pun intended).

Great malt to use at about 5% to give your build a complex malt flavor

Great for Lagers and Amber/Brown Ales
This adds all the great flavors that step mashing brings to the table without all the time and effort of step mashing or decoction.

Malty Goodness
This is a very malty hop that is versatile in many styles. I really like to use it in my Munich Dunkel lager. If you don't want to do a decoction mash, using this malt is kinda like the next best thing to mimic a decoction mash. Really can pump up the maltiness.

Great if...
Great if you want the taste of a long boil without darkening the beer.

Time Is Money
This is a great malt for adding melanoma ens without having to do a long boil. I use this malt a lot in my altbier and Scottish ale recipes.
