Description

Track your fermentation progress without ever disturbing your wort! The Tilt Hydrometer and Thermometer is added directly to your fermenter to provide real-time data on the current gravity and temperature of your wort, eliminating the hassle and potential contamination that comes from opening your fermenter to pull samples. The Tilt is especially useful for brewers fermenting in glass carboys or plastic fermenters that don't have spigots for sample taking.

Designed for homebrewing, the Tilt hydrometer lets you instantly read your brew's specific gravity and temperature on your compatible Apple iPhone/iPad or Android smartphone/tablet or Tilt Pi. Most Bluetooth 4.0+ devices will work with the Tilt. You can then optionally log data to the cloud using their free Google Sheets template or other 3rd party cloud platforms.

Tilt's goal is to help homebrewers brew better beer. The Tilt hydrometer allows you to check the specific gravity and temperature of your beer while it's fermenting, without ever having to open your fermenter or pour out any of your precious brew. This makes brewing more consistent and easier to track.

Here are some of the new features of the Tilt:

  • Range: Better reception and range. With the increased transmission power your Tilt will send data through larger, thicker-walled fermenters.
  • Precision: Upgraded sensors. With an improved temperature sensor and accelerometer your Tilt will operate with more precision.
  • Efficiency: Reduced power consumption so more brews, less battery changing.
  • New Look: Newly designed custom circuit board and harness.

If using multiple Tilt hydrometers for different batches of fermenting beer you must use a different color for each batch. The app will not read multiple hydrometers of the same color.

Each Tilt comes calibrated and ready to go with a pre-installed battery that lasts 12-24 months depending on usage. Just download the free app, sanitize your Tilt, drop it in your fermenter, and start taking readings with your phone, tablet, or Tilt Pi.

The specific gravity is accurate +/- 0.002 within the Tilt's range of 0.990 to 1.120. The thermometer is accurate +/- 1°F (+/- 0.5°C).

Download the free Tilt app at the Apple App Store or Google Play Store or get the free Tilt Pi download.

Will they work in stainless steel fermenters that are then put inside of a chest freezer (fermentation chamber)?
Gordon B on May 21, 2021
BEST ANSWER: I use my Tilt in a SS BrewTech BrewBucket, inside an old refrigerator. Need to be within about 8' for the phone to pick it up. However, it works great within that range
Will a tilt be able to broadcast through this? It works great with the fermzilla, not sure if the WIFI signal will transmit through steel

Stainless Bucket Fermenter w/ Heating - 35L/9.25G (110V)
Stainless Bucket Fermenter w/ Heating - 35L/9.25G (110V)
BEST ANSWER: It will work but you'll need the receiving device (phone, tablet, raspberry pi, etc) to be very close to the tilt. I have to put my RPi on top of my Spike Flex or it won't connect.
Will these work under pressure in a Fermzilla conical?
Anthony C on Dec 4, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Yes and no. The hydrometer will register a few points lower than the actual gravity when under pressure. You could put water in your fermenter and pressurize. Water should be 1.000. The tilt hydrometer allows you to recalibrate, so just increase the reading on the hydrometer until it registers 1.000. It should then be calibrated for use in your fermenter. I've never done this, but it seems to make sense. During active fermentation, the Tilt will sometimes will give an errant readings due to the bubbles, but the readings on average are accurate. I am a big fan of the tilt hydrometer.

Overall I think this is a great product. I am still working on really calibrating as the calibration in distilled water still leaves my higher gravity readings several points lower than my actual hydrometer when I compare the two. For monitoring the actual fermentation and temperature, however, this has been a very handy tool. It's great to know when your beer hits your FG!

Works well, short range in stainless tank
I love getting the real time data that it provides, but the range is very short in a stainless conical. I have to be within 4 feet of the tank to connect to it.

Very limited range
The blue tooth range is less than 20'. You need a dedicated IOS device if you want anything approaching more than a few points a day.

Love at first Synch
I've only been using it for a week but this thing works really well and it simple to use. I link it to my brewersfriend brewing streams. I plan on buying more as my fermenters are stainless and this saves me from pulling multiple samples just to check gravity and gives me real time access to how my beer is coming along.
