Description

The Inkbird dual stage temperature controller is an easy to use and economical controller that is perfect for home brewing. Inkbird controllers allow you to control both heating and cooling, and set independent differentials for each to keep the exact temperature you need.

The Ink bird ITC-308S controller performs many of the same functions as the Ranco or Johnson but at a more affordable price, making it a great alternative for temperature control.  Aside from brewing uses, this is a great dual relay output temperature controller for cooking (use in a smoker or bbq), home growing (heat mats for seedlings, climate control), or any other DIY project you come up with!

Features:

  • Simple plug and play design with user friendly LED interface
  • Dual stage ITC-308 - control both heating and cooling
  • Adjustable Heating/Cooling differential
  • 1000W max power
  • Celsius or Fahrenheit
  • High and low temperature and sensor fault alarms
  • Can control temperatures of -58° F through 210° F (-50° C - 99° C)

Brewing friends, I just purchased the Inkbird ITC-308, and I'm using it to control the temperature of a ~7cf chest freezer. I've heard that excessively cycling a compressor on and off can shorten it's life. Does anyone have recommendations for the "Cooling Differential Value" and "Compressor Delay" that will give "good enough" temperature stability for fermentation, but won't wear-out the compressor too quickly?
Robert Garton on Sep 30, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I've left the Delay alone for my 4 models, but I've set the Differential down to 2ºF with no issue. (been using them for 3 years)
How does this work on a Kezzer?
Donald Palmer on Feb 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Very simple. You plug the keezer into the Inkbird controller, then plug the Inkbird into the wall outlet. the allows a freezer to cycle on and off in order to maintain warmer temps than a standard freezer can do on it's own. We use this controller on a mini fridge we converted into a fermenting chamber as well as a huge 14 tap keezer we built. keep perfect temps.
Can the temperature probe be submerged? I don't have a thermowell on this vessel yet.
Brian Sallee on Feb 20, 2021
BEST ANSWER: No, it can’t be submerged. You can fasten it on the outside of your fermentor using tape and a cloth to insulate it from the open air. This is surprisingly accurate. I’ve found it to be within 1-2 degrees of the wort/must. These are great devices though! Buying my second soon.
can you use this for a full sized standing freezer?
Matt Mcdonald on May 1, 2023
BEST ANSWER: I’ve used it for a full-sized refrigerator, and have seen it used for chest freezers as well. It’s rated output is 10A, so as long as the freezer doesn’t exceed that you should be good.
What is the input voltage range for this device?
Freeman Wells on Aug 7, 2020
BEST ANSWER: 110-120v
Our controller wont hold settings. It keeps going back to defaults. Very frustrating. Any thoughts ?
wilco landzaat on Mar 23, 2019
BEST ANSWER: You probably aren't holding the "set" button down long enough after setting your preferred temp. Here's the relevant note from the user docs...
" SET key: press SET key for 3 seconds to enter menu for function setting. During the setting process, press SET key for 3 seconds to quit and save setting change." This has worked for me. If you release the button too early, it reverts to the previously stored setting.

high temp shutoff?
First use with beer after "testing" with water. Had set high temp cuttoff at 68F with +- set at 1F. Woke up to fermentation temp of 75F (no longer heating anyway) Air temp in room never got above 70F. Will have to see where it stabilizes today but a little dissapointed so far.

Plug and Play
I like the idea of having heating and cooling in 1 unit. I still need to check the accuracy of this, since it appears to be a different reading than my Thermapen Mk4

Great temp controller
So far i really like this controller. Has a plug for a heater and a cooler. It’s winter in CO right now so we’re only using the heater plug. Works perfectly with our new bung, thermowell, and heater. We have a much better control of our fermentation temperature. Would purchase again. Very easy to use and set up with good instructions.

Tricky to setup, but no hassle after
A little confusing to get set up, but the instructions help greatly. Been using this for a couple years to control a chest freezer for storage or fermentation. Does the job great.
