An excellent clone kit of Sierra Nevada's Stout!  This kit is a beautiful example of a well rounded American Stout, utilizing both liquid and dry malt extracts, as well as 6 different steeping grains!  The end result is a bold but smooth malt flavor, backed by about 50 IBUs and an ABV around 5.7%.

While most people associate darker beers with colder weather, we like to think of this as a "year-round" stout due to it being so well balanced and easy-drinking!

  • SRM (Color Range): 32-35
  • IBUs: 48-53
  • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 5.7%

Our recipe kits DO NOT include grain bags, yeast or priming sugar. To find our yeast recommendations, choose your preferred kit option above and then select the drop-down menu under “Yeast Options”.  For more info, click on the recommended yeast(s) below in the “You Might Also Need” section below. All included steeping grains will come milled.

Liquid Malt Extract (LME) vs. Dried Malt Extract (DME)
MoreBeer! recipe kits are offered in both Liquid Malt Extract and Dry Malt Extract so that our customers can choose the format that best suits their needs and brewing style. LME is a viscous liquid, similar in consistency to maple syrup. In addition to being the more affordable option, many brewers find LME easier to handle than dry extract. DME is more condensed and comes in a powder format that is similar to baking flour. Although it’s a little more costly, DME is naturally lighter in color and stays fresher for longer. We highly recommend DME when brewing light colored beers.

Very malty with just a bit of hop flavor. A good kit and very good results. Will make it again.

Classic Stout
I had good results with this kit. The IBU and ABV was about right. It tasted like a Stout should taste.

Good stout
Came out pretty good. I think I prefer the B3 stout, but this was a nice change. You can definitely taste the chocolate undertones. I used the Safale 05 dry yeast. I will definitely brew this one again.

Mountain of a Stout
I’ve been a fan of Irish stouts for a long time but figured I’d give this version a try. Happy I did! Still has the malty hit I expect from a good stout but the hop finish is wonderful. I will be putting this beer in my regular rotation for brewing.

A very nice stout
I brewed the Cali Mountain Stout extract kit with US-05 dry yeast and added 18oz of rolled oats with the steeping grains. The result has a great mouthfeel - very chewy. Great roast flavor. I'll definitely brew this one again.
Cheers!

Excellent stout w/nice hop flavor
I've become a fan of the B3 Stout for years, but thought we'd give this one a go. No regrets-- this is a really nice blend of malts which plays up the 'stout' flavor very well. The Bravo hops definitely add something to the nose and flavor as well.

Review is based on a 'day 1' test to see if carbonation was good-- it definitely was- very nice head and beautiful bubble fall in the glass. We went with the recommended Wyeast 1098 pitched at 75 degrees.

Looking forward to seeing how this ages over the coming weeks.
