  • Inspired by Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout®, this kit combines our All Out Brunch Stout recipe with an addition of bourbon-soaked oak chips
  • Includes Nugget and Willamette hops
  • Estimated ABV: 7.5%
  • Estimated IBUs: 60
  • Makes 5 gallons of finished beer

Bourbon Belle takes the beautifully complex flavor of Brunch Stout and adds a charming southern drawl. Similar to "All Out", this recipe combines a variety of dark malts, cacao nibs, and ground coffee for a remarakably rich flavor profile, and then adds a little giddy-up with an addition of bourbon-soaked oak chips. The oak chips are added to simulate the barrel-aging process used for making Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout®, or "KBS". You wouldn't expect a foal to win the Triple-Crown, so practice patience when brewing Bourbon Belle. We recommend a conditioning period of 2 to 6 months to allow this beer to fully mature before entering the race.

Please note: this recipe calls for 2 oz of Kona and Sumatra coffee grounds and 1 cup of Kentucky Bourbon, which are not included in the kit.

  • Makes 5 gallons
  • Estimated Original Gravity: 1.078
  • SRM (Color Range): 40+
  • IBUs: 60
  • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 7.5%
  • Oak Chips Included

One of the BEST beers I have ever brewed!
This one is one of my absolute favorites, and I have been brewing since 1982. I have brewed this three times now and it is going to be one of my regular beers in my kegerator from now on. The instructions say to age this for 2-6 months, but it is amazing after just a few days in the keg after forced carbonation! Everyone who tries this loves it; even those who normally don't like stouts. I used Jim Bean Kentucky Bourbon and since I didn't have any Kona coffee, I used Sumatra coffee at both stages that called for the addition of coffee. I also used Wyeast American ale Liquid 125 ml for my yeast. The one other thing I did was hand mill my grain even though I purchased the pre-milled grain. The pre-milled grain was a bit course and by hand milling it I got a more complete fermentation and an ABV of 8.0%. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Lack of instructions
Disappointed in the lack of all-grain brewing instructions. In a follow up call with customer service, I was told that the all-grain specific instructions are still under development. As a brand new brewer, detailed instructions are important to me
