The future is here today, and the future is HDPE Fermentation & Storage Tanks from Speidel.

Are you tired of carboys? Hate siphoning to transfer? Wish you could ferment larger batches in a single container? Sick of lifting 50lbs by a small metal handle? Done with worrying about shattered glass, injury and lost product? Well then have we got the solution for you!

These heavy duty plastic tanks offer a fantastic fermentation & storage solution at a great price.

Key Features:

  • Heavy duty HDPE construction is durable and resists oxygen transfer. None of the risks of working with glass.
  • Small footprint makes them easy to store - take better advantage of the space you have to dedicate to wine & beer making.
  • Built-in handles make these tanks easy to move, even when full.
  • Large lid opening makes them easy to clean by hand - say goodbye to your carboy brush!
  • All ports seal with gaskets and the vessel can be fully sealed for long-term storage.
  • Includes a spigot and oversized 2-piece Speidel airlock.
  • Designed and manufactured in Germany by Speidel, the makers of our legendary commercial wine tanks

Suggested Applications:

  • 12L: Perfect for storing small lots, making experimental batches and taking some of your beer or wine along with you to your next party.
  • 20L: Ideal for secondary fermentation and storage of 5 gallon batches.
  • 30L: The vessel for fermenting wine kits and 5 gallon batches of beer with plenty of headspace and no need for a blowoff tube.
  • 60L: Perfect for fermenting larger batches of wine or 10 gallon batches of beer in a single container! Only 4" larger in diameter than a 6.5 gallon carboy!
  • 120L: Ferment & Store large batches of anything - your creativity is the only limit!

Approximate Dimensions: 20in Diameter x 33in Height (w/out airlock in place). The maximum temperature that these plastic fermenters can handle is 140F.

**Please Note - The handles on the Speidel Plastic Fermenters are capable of handling a weight load of 66lbs each, or 132lbs when using both. They should not be used to move this unit when full.

Best option out there!
This is by far the best fermentation option out there for big batches.
Cheapest option to ferment 30 gallons! I've never even had to use a blow-off tube.
Easy to clean.
Lighter than stainless or glass to carry around.
Easy to calibrate (mark outside with a sharpie).
Easy to transfer in/out of through the top or spigot. I run out of my kettle into buckets and then pour them in through the huge top opening.

I have transferred to kegs using CO2 pressure (by attaching a 2nd spigot on the top) and it works fine, but it's easier to just set it on something high enough to pour directly into the kegs.

Only downside is the plastic spigot, it doesn't fit a 3/8" or 1/2" vinyl hose without a lot of effort (and potentially skinned knuckles) spend the money on the chrome spigot.

awesome long term wine storage
I just bought my 6th one! I bulk age my reds in them and manage to get 33.6 gallons topped full. I use wine stix staves for my oak 5-6 months and every bit as good as oak barrels! I use a transfer pump to move my wine from barrel to barrel for racking then clean out super easy indoors in my commercial sink or outside with a hose.

No more carboys!
Or at least fewer carboys. Great for blending. Didn't have enough wine for two barrels so remainder went into Speidel tank. Topped off with argon and don't have to worry about oxygen. Will store for three months before bottling. One drawback: the tanks will not handle a vacuum pump for racking. The sides collapse. Big disappointment.

I have 5 stainless fermenters and 3 of these big guys. These are not as pretty but when it comes to picking them up to take outside to clean, much easier! Use some food safe lube on the lid seal before you use it. Also the stainless spout is worth the extra money. I turned the plastic spout into a blow off and works great! HOPE THIS HELPS!!!

Brew Big!
It's fun to brew 20 gal at a time or more. This fermenter is not going anywhere once you fill it up. Advice is to place it on a stable shelf to take advantage of gravity to use the built-in spout When it is time to empty and enjoy.

so much easier
These things are wonderful. the top opening is large enough for easy cleaning. seals up great. I got 2, one for secondary as well. Easy to double batch and make 20 gallons with this.

great for large batches but difficult to reach the bottom
I love these 120L fermenter for large batches and have 3 of them. It is way better than spitting your brew over several carboys. However, they are so big, that it is difficult to get to the bottom of the barrel to clean with the scrub pads. I wish they made a 25 or 26 gallon version. That said, they are easy to use and store (if you have the space for something that big). You can even get another valve to pressurize the lid to push out the brew from the bottom spigot onto kegs or transfer to another one for secondary.

I have fermented in plastic car boys (better bottles), buckets, and other square plastic containers. This great. A dream to harvest yeast. Simple to clean. I put it on a 15 inch square dolly with .75 plywood base. Dolly is rated for 800 lbs. No worries. Bought an extra spigot for the top. Transfer to secondary with co2. No problem holding pressure. I might get another one for secondary. Then refill 5 gallon kegs as necessary. All with my helper.. co2.

Life is good.
