Replacing an old 2 roller mill and this has some nice features such as ball bearings instead of bushings and 3 rollers for a gentler crush.

Does anyone have directions on setting the roller gaps?
Wayne Halozan on Jan 5, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Ok, before you assemble the hopper on the mill, and with the side plate not yet installed, slip a feeler gauge or a standard credit card (.030") between the ONLY adjustable rollers( the two bottom rollers), loosen the screws and and roll the knurled nuts both in the same direction, closer or looser, and when you are happy with the gap, simply tighten the nuts, assemble the side plates, and attach the hopper...that's it! Enjoy! Best mill I have ever had, wish I had popped for the extra dough for this one in the beginning!...
Can anyone confirm if this model has ball bearings or if it has bronze bushings?
Joel Donmeyer on Dec 26, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Bearings. Definitely a noticeable difference from my previous mill which used bushings.
What size drill is needed?
Lenny N on Jan 14, 2020
BEST ANSWER: 1/2 " chuck - variable or low speed is recommended. Anchor down this mill very well when motorizing - the 1/2" drill has a lot of torque and could rotate the whole mill (rather than the rollers). Before motorizing, hand crank it empty to make sure the rollers are aligned then add a few oz. of grain to check it again. Then use the drill.

Great product
I recieved the malt muncher 3 easy to put together took me awhile to get the gap even on both sides. I used it the next day with my drill attached blew through 15.5 pounds in just a few minutes. It worked fine the crush was just like my LHBS when I buy my specialty malts now I dont have to have them grind for me. Shipping came when they said it would pleased all the way around.

I will start by warning anybody that is not handy to consider that this mill requires FULL assembly and that there are lots of small screws and nuts as well as no assembly instructions.

That being said, the build quality is absolutely too notch. Good sturdy aluminum plates make up the hopper instead of flimsy sheet tin. It also comes with a rubber edge guard to hide the sharp edge of the hopper. A quick rub with some emery cloth will take care of the edge though.

The mill is easy to adjust and even at a tighter gap setting it leaves the ends of the husk intact while still providing a great crush. It runs well with my 18V drill on low speed. As for the hand crank, it require more oomph than a standard two roller and to mill more than a couple pounds by hand will be quite a chore.

One thing to keep in mind is that the accessory board to mount the mill on seems to have some issues with the holes lining up. If you force the bolts through the mill will have issues binding up because it is a floating assembly. What happens is when you tighten the bolts down it squeeze the assembly out of alignment and will not turn properly.

All in all a great investment that should last many years.

More Info Please!
The mill arrived with no instructions for assembly or suggested adjustments for different grains, etc. It also would have been helpful to know that when an electric drill is used it must have a 1/2” vs. a 3/8” chuck. The biggest problem is the grain bin must be removed to verify mill adjustments with a gauge. Otherwise the mill works as it should.

Works great - I'd buy this again!
I have used this a few times now and my brewing efficiency has increased significantly over milling done at my LHBS.

Better than a LHBS mill
This thing is high quality and heavy duty. Excellent results.
The control you get by adjusting the gap as opposed to going with whatever the LHBS is set up for is in my experience one of the greatest contributors to consistency, once you have all your basic processes dialed in. Our brew house efficiencies would vary between high 50% to high 70%, before crushing grain ourselves, now we're within 2 points of 77% in the first 5 batches of using this.
I can't imagine trying to crank it by hand, it requires a high torque drill or other motor unless you're grinding a small quantity or really want a work out.

Confirming Roberto Mata's measurements
I just received my mill and wish to (mostly) confirm the measurements of Roberto Mata. As he noted, the rollers are 6" long by 1.5" diameter with sealed ball bearings. My hopper, however, is made of lighter weight 0.050" (18 gauge) aluminum. The hopper seems sturdy enough to do the job, but I'll write another review after trying it out. I'm giving only four stars because no instructions were enclosed.

Must have
Bought this mill to replace an old 2 roller mill. There is just no comparison between this and my previous mill. Easy to assemble. Sturdy. This mill just gets the job done without any question. If you brew all grain then you need one of these.

Excellent Mill! Read This For Accurate Information!
Very impressed with the value offered by this 3 roll mill. Refer to photos for accurate information on it, as the product listing and reviews have either incorrect or outdated info. Rollers are knurled and hardened carbon steel 6" long and 1- 1/2" in diameter. Shaft is 12mm. Bearings are sealed ball bearing, not sleeve. Hopper is made of .057" (15 gauge) aluminum sheet metal (more than hefty enough). No instructions included, so you will need to figure out how to assemble. Note my hopper photos, assembly is kind of a pain due to the unusual shape and location of screws, you will need a small socket wrench fitted with a short phillips bit or an angled phillips driver. This product is not "turnkey," requires some DIY skills, so if you are not handy, might want to get this assembled by someone who is. The rollers are covered in a light oil, press some flour into them to clean them up, but protect the ends with the ball bearings. Then.....mill away!
