What size ID silicone tubing should be used with the NEW version of this spigot? 3/8" no longer fits - it is too small.

BEST ANSWER: Hi Ryan, we still recommend using 3/8'' tubing. If the tubing is too small and spigot is too large it's always helpful to soak the tip of the tubing in warm water to soften it up. If the tubing is too large and the spout is too small, you should secure the tubing with a hose clamp. Alternatively, I have heard of customers using 1/2'' tubing on this spigot.
Do you know what the thread pattern is inside the smaller orange plastic piece (as seen in the second photo in the product description)? I tried a 1/2" MPT fitting, which is just slightly too wide.

BEST ANSWER: Unfortunately the threads on these don't seem to be one of the standards that we are used to. I have one of these that works with 1/2" MPT but another that doesn't. Seems like a 1/2" BSPP is going to be closer to what these are designed for but still doesn't create a perfect fit. We apologize for the inconvenience.

I hope this becomes standard
I had problems with both the original plastic Speidel valves and the first-generation (chromed steel) metal ones. These stainless steel valves are smooth and secure - and look like they will last forever.

Solid, well made
The stock taps, chrome or plastic, both leak. This is solid and well made and as good as the 1/2 inch ball valve I usually use but doesn’t stick out so far which is nice.

Peace of mind
My only concern with the Speidel plastic fermenters has been the cheap plastic spigots. I fear disaster should one inadvertently break off or otherwise get damaged. These stainless steel replacements are much more robust andless likely to create disasters. Excellent ddition.
