Description

Used along with the Ss recirculation bulkhead, this fitting adds a 3/8" hose barb on your mash tun. It attaches with a 1/2" FPT knurled locking nut and is required if you are using the Ss recirculation manifold. Made from 304 stainless steel and silicone O-rings included.

Good evening, I want to use my 10 Gal Ss Infussion Mash Tun with recirculation. Just to be sure: To use the manifold (image 2) i have to install the bulkhead (image 3) and this supplement of image 4 on the inside part. Can I install a 1/2 FPT x 1/2 Barb (image 5) on the other side to connect the 1/2 silicone hose that comes from a pump. Or better asked: Are both threads of this bulkhead 1/2 MPT?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can use the 1/2 FPT x 1/2 Barb on the outside to connect the silicone hose. However, the inner thread of the bulkhead is not the same as on the outside and the 1/2 barb won't fit there. I am also not quite sure how you are going to use the manifold while having a full tun.

Yes the bulkhead threads are 1/2" MPT. I use a T on the outside so that I can add a 1/2 threaded thermometer probe to measure the return temperature of the recirculating wort. However, a 1/2" FPT to 1/2" hose barb would connect to the 1/2" MPT on the outside of the bulkhead.

Im looking to place this on the outside of my 10 gallon SS mashtun recirc hub. Will this fit the outside or do i need a different size? Thanks

BEST ANSWER: Yes this will fit on both the inside and the outside of the bulkhead assembly on the InfuSSion mash tun.

BEST ANSWER: Hi Stefan,

I also have the SS brewtech infusion mashtun (20gal)... quick answer to your question is yes the bulkhead supplied with your MT is 1/2” npt so you can use standard npt fittings.

For my set up we connected a 1/2” stainless ball valve on the outside of the MT with a female cam fitting for ease of use and allows for better flow control. Inside the MT we have the hose barb fitting with fpt (the image you have attached) which connects to the Ss recirc manifold accessory. I suggest using all stainless steel fittings.
