These are my favorite bulkheads and the only ones I'll use. Sturdy and seals well. I put gaskets on both sides and I've never had a leak.

My bulkhead leaks if i put the gasket on the inside, no matter how soft or tight I crank it down. If I put it on the outside it doesn't leak at all, but since it's for a brew kettle, I'm wondering if it will melt from the heat of my propane burner. Any insight?
Jared Wyatt on Feb 8, 2018
BEST ANSWER: This gasket will stand up to the heat for a long while provided the flames don't lick it directly for too long on a given day. It is made of a soft silicone rubber that can withstand temperatures over 400 degrees momentarily, however continued exposure will eventually cause it to char and potentially dry out.
how long is the shank? I'm wondering if i can use this in an igloo cooler
Carl Rustic on Jan 24, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The shank is 1-7/8" long. This is the same bulkhead we use on our Rubbermaid cooler mash tuns and hot liquor tanks.
I can not get a 1" hole drilled in my keg to install. Any suggestions? Do the SS bulkheads come with 1/2" body so I can go with a smaller hole?
Kenneth Fort on Jun 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: There are some other weldless fittings by Blichmann that have a 1/2" or 5/8" OD threading. Or you can make your own. You will be looking for pipe fittings that have a 3/8" ID and that will allow you to use a smaller hole.
I received the bulkhead and it only has one gasket. I am using this on a boil kettle. Should the gasket be inside or outside the kettle?
Ted R on Nov 11, 2020
BEST ANSWER: We recommend putting the red silicone gasket on the outside as that tends to get the best results. We've seen people have success with both options though.

No Leaks
Easy to install and no leaks. The gasket has a groove that it sits in some when you tighten it it does slide out of place.

Through-wall for mash screen
wanted to add a 12"mash screen to my 30 and 55 gallon brew kettles. I enlarged the holes that are on my Blichmann kettles for these and it worked out great.

Good Quality!
This is a well made piece and seems to be a good value! It makes it easier to modify a tank if you are not a welder.

Nice fittings!
Great quality fittings. I installed these on my HLT and like the flat gasket much better than other fittings I have, from another company, that came with o-rings and nuts without the o-ring retaining groove. So far, these gaskets have stayed in place.

Got a spare rubber gasket?
Quality product with limited instructions. Technical support wasn’t firm on whether the rubber gasket went inside or out, their best guess was put one on both inner and outer…

Solid bulkhead to replace flimsy ones
I used this bulkhead after numerous attempts at making my own with 3/4” fittings. The goal was to reuse 3/4 SS Brewtech that I replaced with butterfly valves on my Chronicals. These very nice valves are now on both my 20 gallon kettles with unrestricted flow. The bulkhead is a real 3/4 NPT with a wide flange, a nice thick flat silicon gasket, a wide washer and a nut. It firmly secures the valve to the kettle, on the other side of the flange is a male MPT 1/2 tread where most users would typically Teflon and connect the ball valve.
Solid and reliable, I forgot where I bought it from years ago and was thrilled to buy it again for my second kettle. Totally worth the money.
