Description

Designed for the small 'Nano' commercial brewery where the H315 series is too small but you don't yet need a full on expensive professional brewery pump. The March Nano Brewery Pump features a robust flow rate of 17 GPM with all the benefits brewers have come to expect from March magnetic drive pumps. Those features include the ability to throttle back flow and the use of food-grade materials where the beer is in contact with the pump.

*Please Note* - This pump must be taken apart and cleaned after every use to prevent the impeller from seizing. To do so, take the bolts out of the pump head, remove the pump head from the pump, then take the impeller shaft and actual impeller apart. Clean well, and reassemble.

Homebrewing Tips:
1. Great for Whirlpooling 20 gallons of wort or more.
2. Ideal for our Counterflow Chillers WC90.

Please note that the pump comes with a three foot cord WITHOUT a plug attached. It has a 16 gauge 3 wire setup.

Is this pump too strong for a 10 gallon batch, such as for recirculating?
David A on Jun 13, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Yes, it would be over-kill for a 10 gal system. I have a 1 BBL system in my brewery and it uses the standard homebrew Chugger pumps for recirculation and HERMS. I use these Nano pumps for CIP and moving water from one vessel to another quickly.
can this handle boiling water temperatures?
Eric A on Jul 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these are intended to handle boiling liquids.

Impeller destruction
I have had this pump a little over two years now and at this point have had to replace the impeller system twice, it does not seat well inside the pump head, because of this it ends up tearing the thin piece of aluminum that holds the magnet together to shreds. This is something that needs to be fixed or redesigned. Upset, and have gone to a different company for my pump needs now.

Great Pump BUT be warned
This is a wonderful pump but be warned. I just got off the phone with one of the engineers at March asking him why my pump kept squealing even though I know for a fact I had no cavitation. He asked some questions and determined that the 1/2" couplers on my kettle were choking the flow to the pump essentially overworking it and that causes the impeller and thrust washer to seize. He recommended a minimum of 3/4" on the inlet side all the way to the kettle including the kettle fittings themselves but that 1" would be even better. Other than that this is a great pump.

Excellent for my use
I have a 25 gallon brewhouse that I use this pump for. I can easily throttle it back to use for mashing or I can open it up to whirl pool while circulating through my plate chiller. To prevent cavitation, I would recommend a 1" hose for the inlet if you want to open the output valve all the way.

A lot of power packed in a small unit
This has been one of my most reliable pumps. All March pumps have served me well. They are reliable and can take abuse. I use this pump for my work and chill. It is fast and efficent - able to move the wort a great distance. I never have air-lock issues like I use to on the older model pumps. A great choice if you need the power.

March nano brewery is indispensible for me
I use this pump on the wort side of my system. During the mash it works terrific recirculating through my 50 foot HERMS coil inside my HLT. During the boil it works terrific moving the boiling wort through my counterflow chiller to sterilize it and then upon completion of the boil, for cooling the wort. I also have the smaller March pump just for the HLT. This smaller pump, I fear, would not have the power needed to move some of my worts through that HERMS coil. This one has never disappointed me. Futhermore, this one is rated for our boiling worts!! A representative of Little Giant told me I would void my warranty using ANY of their pumps with boiling wort!! Hope this helps, cheers!!
