The Grainfather Sparge Water Heater is a temperature-controlled unit that allows you to heat up to 6.6 gallons (25 L) of water making the brewing process even easier by having the right amount of sparge water heated to the right temperature ready at the time of sparge.

How good is the temp accuracy on this unit? WIll it be suitable for brew in a bag? Are the heating elements low density?

BEST ANSWER: Based on my first use as a sparge water heater, I have to say the temperature control is not very good. I could not keep water at 168 consistently. I put a waterproof temperature probe into the water and followed the temperature. It would not turn back on until at least 3-4 degrees too cool, then would overshoot a few degrees once the heater came on. I was hoping for something that was plug-in and forget, but this requires constant monitoring with another thermometer.

Great product
Heats water quick and keeps it where I need it. Use a thermometer to calibrate to Fahrenheit.
