Description

This is a replacement cap for our line of Speidel Plastic Fermenters.  It has a gasketed seal, and serves to close the fermenter.  This is also the same cap used on our Speidel Tank Airlocks.

What is the thread size for the Speidel cap? It looks like ~50mm diameter but the thread is coarse. I have the chrome spigot with this size thread and want to adapt it to the 29mm thread on a cubitainer (for dispensing real ale with a hand pump).

- Response: A proprietary thread size. No information on size and pitch.
Sorry for the stupid question, but this swaps out where the spigot is and isn’t for the airlock spot, right? Also, will it work on the 15.9 gallon rectangular model? Thanks!

BEST ANSWER: This will actually work in the airlock spot and the spigot spot! Yes, it will also work with the 15.9 rectangular model (FE730) in both spots.

These lids seal well. Having two would be handy for sanitizing or aerating (times when you need to shake the fermenter.) I like the idea of having a spigot but so far have just used the cap on the lower opening due to sanitary concerns with having the spigot attached and collecting debris during ferment.

Spiedel Fermenter
I have two Spiedel fermenters and I love them. There is one thing however that needs improvement...the standard spigot. It is difficult to clamp a hose onto the spigot since it is not barbed. I have included two photos of an improved hose method. With a bare cap and a 1" hole saw, an improved hose capture is accomplished.

Works well
Works as advertised. Not a fan of the glued in gasket but it was still easy enough to remove it to thoroughly clean and remove the glue. I understand why the glue is there - to prevent the lose of the gasket or it falling off during installation, but long term cleaning and sanitizing would he difficult if the gasket remained glued in.

It's a cap. It keeps the beer in the fermenter and other stuff out
Pretty hard to describe something like this. I needed an extra cap for my Speidel fermenter. This fits perfectly!!!
