01/11/2022

This is The Mash Up! Vito Delucchi from MoreBeer! visits Matt Sager at Danville Brewing Co. to discuss his GABF Award-Winning DIPA, Chux! Matt reveals the secrets behind brewing DIPA, talks about his history as a homebrewer, and answers rapid fire questions!

Watch the video or listen to the podcast!

Matt shares what it was like to win a GABF medal the first time he ever entered a beer in a professional competition, then goes on to share the history behind the name of his award-winning beer, Chux. From there, he shares some tips for brewing a double IPA, including how Pliny the Elder is regarded as the “forefather of double IPA.” This includes malt used in the beer, hops, mash temperature, and more.

Vito also asks Matt about his experience as a homebrewer, which is how the two of them met. Matt even shares his experience using a 20 gallon Low Rider BrewSculpture in his old brew shed!

Then, Vito and Matt discuss the new Chux DIPA recipe kit, which is now available for you to brew at home! They go over what you can expect when brewing this beer recipe kit, and how you customize the beer to your liking as well.

All this before diving into a round of rapid fire questions, which includes Matt’s one tip for new homebrewers, a discussion of Hazy IPA vs West Coast IPA, Matt’s “desert island” beer (it’s Orval), and the one person he’d share a beer with if he could.
