Description

Keep your yeast happy and your ferment warm during those cold winter months with this flexible heater wrap! Don't be fooled by imitators and cheap knock-offs, this is the original FermWrap that has been produced by Fermentap for over a decade. Unlike those old heater belts, the FermWrap covers a wide area of your carboy or fermentation vessel, promoting an even heat distribution. Using tape to adhere, the FermWrap can be attached directly to your fermenter, or can be used to heat the space in a box (or refrigerator) that the fermenter is in. Depending on your configuration and insulation, you can increase the temperature of your ferment from 5-20°F. This differential can be increased by using the BrewBuilt™ Neoprene Carboy Sleeve.

With 40 watts of heat spread over almost two square feet, it provides gentle, even heating.

For more precise results, we recommend a temp controller and carboy thermowell. The controller will monitor the fermentation temp and only power on the FermWrap if the temperature drops below your set point. For the ultimate level of control, we recommend pairing it with the BrewBuilt CoolStix™ to provide cooling. With both accessories plugged into the temp controller, you'll get cooling or heating whenever you need it.

Can this be used on plastic Fermontser 7gal?
Timothy Chilcoat on Jan 27, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, I have also used it on my Spidel 30 L ( 7.9 Gal). And works excellent. I did use a beach towel to wrap around my plastic Spide 30 L as temps were dropping down into the 30 s in my shop.
Will this work with the 7.5 gallon anvil bucket fermenter? Cheers
Jeff Shoemaker on Jan 24, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I have a 7 gallon BrewBucket, so I can’t see why it wouldn’t work on the Anvil. I wrap it around the fermenter and use masking tape to tape the edges to the fermenter.
Can this be used on the stainless steel brewbucket fermenter?
John Lilli on Apr 26, 2018
BEST ANSWER: On the outside of the fermenter yes. Works great with a bit of extra insulation around it for improved heat retention.
How do you use the FermWrap with the Fermzilla and the Insulating Jacket? I thought the Fermzilla couldn't use a heater because it's plastic.

BEST ANSWER: I would not use the FermWrap. It is too wide to fit the FermZilla and it is rated at 40 watt. Kegland suggests under 30 watt is safe. I used 4" wide reptile heat wrap for my FermZilla. That is 22 watts and I have had no problems.

Thermal wrap heating wrap
The thermal heating wrap works fantastic with my Inkbird temperature controller. I now have two of them and can control the temperature at all times within one degree on car it’s and or kegs during fermentation.

Some guidance or instruction needed
I purchased a FermWrap to help ferment the Hornindal Kveik yeast. I had no idea how warm it would get, but the yeast likes it up to 98 so I thought I was safe. 16 hrs later, the temp on the outside of the carboy was 125. I thought I had killed the yeast. Thankfully, that yeast is a monster and started to ferment again once I cooled it down and I think it may turn out OK. Some simple instructions would be helpful

Very disappointed the firm wrap does not have a lower operating temperature of 85 degrees F built in.
Since most yeast cannot tolerate heat above 85 degrees F, one would think that the Ferm wrap would have a built in temperature sensor to prevent that from happening without having to buy a thermostat control in addition. Pretty shabby in my mind.

This heater works well but unfortunately the plastic wrap is very brittle. It is already starting to crack where the electric cord connects.

FermWrap + mini fridge is a win
Does as advertised. No issues yet. Need to purchase a controller with it.

Outside temp is 55F, heated the minifridge up to 72F no problem.

Works exceptionally well.
This has changed my fermentation process for the better. with this FermWrap and immersion thermometer (in a thermowell) I am able to keep my wort temp within a degree of optimal desired fermenting temperature.

This thing is bomb. Taped the ends onto my carboy, wrapped in towel in my fermentation chamber, and raised 20 degrees no problem. Haven’t tried to go higher yet.

Economical, user friendly, perfect for fermentation
If you need something to heat up your kegerator for fermentation if the weather is cold look no further. Paired with an Inkbird, this and the kegerator keeps my temperatures held at 70 degrees. For installment all I did was tape it to the back of the kegerator and run the line through the tap hole on top then seal it with the rubber plug.
