The Ported Fermonster is a brand new fermenter designed specifically for fermentation. MoreBeer! gave product feedback for over 2 years of development and we think they nailed the design. The large lid allows for easy filling and makes hop or oak additions a breeze. The smooth sides are fantastic for sanitization - no ribs or texture to collect yeast or bacteria.  The large 7 gallon size was designed to provide ample space for fermentation and you'll find the molded in volume markers super handy for accurate filling. The punted bottom allows sediment to collect to the sides so that you can siphon liquid from the center.  Because they are made from virgin PET plastic they nearly unbreakable and a lot safer than similar glass carboys. Also notice the conical top which reduces surface area if you plan to store beer or wine long term.

These ported versions come with our plastic spigot (FE347), allowing for easy racking and sampling!

Made from heavy PET plastic, the same material used in 2 L soda bottles, which is nearly impermeable to oxygen penetration.  Due to the thickness of the material and the overall geometry the Fermonster does not require ribs or dimples for stability.  That results in a super smooth interior surface that reduces yeast and sediment buildup making it the easiest to clean, most sanitary PET carboy on the market.  The huge 4" opening makes filling a breeze, and cleanup is as easy as wiping down the inside.  The 7 gallon volume is a monster of a fermenter, reducing blowoff issues seen with standard 5 and 6 gallon carboys. Fermonsters are easily moved by hand or consider using our Carboy Carrier for even greater ease of use.

These fermentors are completely air-tight and the lids sealed tight with an O-Ring.  Additional O-Rings and Lids both with and without holes are available for purchase, see our You Might Also Need items below.

What size tubing will fit the spigot?
Ray P on Jul 11, 2018
BEST ANSWER: 3/8 OD tubing works for the spigot.
Has anyone had to use a blow off tube and if so what OD?
Michael C on Feb 25, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hi Michael,
I've had this fermenter for over a year fermenting 5.5 and 6 gal batches. With aggressive yeast I'll attach a blow off tube. Simply insert a 1/2 OD tube into the size #10 stopper that is a recommended purchase from Morebeer. It creates an airtight fi!

Does the washer on the spigot work best inside or outside the carboy?
DieselDad on Dec 9, 2020
BEST ANSWER: I've always used it on the inside and that seems to work best. The washer squeezes against the nut and the walls of the fermenter to stop contact between the beer and anything on the outside of the fermenter. This makes the most sense to me because the outside of the fermenter is likely to be contaminated fairly quickly.
Has anyone already measured out the heights/distances for each gallon mark? I would like to place a vertical piece of tape with each gallon marked off. Thank you.
Robb D on Aug 15, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The gallon markers are stamped into the sides.

Great with a couple quirks
These are my favorite fermenters (I have two of them, just bought a third). It cannot be overstated how nice it is to see the fermentation happen so you know when to ramp temps or when you've hit FG. I even favor them over my Anvil buckets for that reason alone, and the PET is very close to stainless in terms of keeping oxygen from leeching in like plastic buckets.

Only a couple quirks: first is the spigot. Make sure to not overtighten it, as I find that is even more likely to cause leaks than undertightening. I usually put the spigot in, then thread the nut on until tight, then hold the nut and give the valve a half turn more. Store some sanitizer in the fermenter during your brew day as your leak test. The second quirk is the volume markers. I would definitely manually fill the fermenter a gallon at a time with a calibrated pitcher or something (you can even do it by weight), then mark it off with a Sharpie.

Otherwise, I love these things!

P.S. the mouth of the fermenters fit perfectly in the Bucket Blaster and makes cleaning an absolute breeze!

my fav
I have 2 of these. they work great!
easy to clean with the large mouth top. Just use a sponge.
Spigot is raised just enough for trub to get left behind.

Many advantages over glass carboys but misshaped?
10 gal primaries (heavy 6.6 gal glass carboy & a 6 gal bucket) get carried down a steep flight of basement stairs. The bucket is scratched & no longer airtight so I replaced it with a 7 gal Fermonster w/ spigot & carrier. Excited when it arrived but noticed a 4" wide 1" deep depression along the length of 1 of the side seams. It temporarily pushes out with a little pressure.
Worked really great on 1st batch but wonder if it is defective. Anyone else noticed this?

Works as it should, not perfect but good for the price
I would give a 4 or 5 star but for a couple issues.
The spigot leaks a tiny bit around the weldless compression fitting. I tightened it a lot but still seems to leak. only a few drops during ferment. Ill take it off and clean and see if I can get it to seal better.
The lid gasket doesn't stay in its groove in the lid. annoying when it falls out when you take the lid off. Its also a very thin gasket. Seals though.
Spigot placement could also be 1/2" lower. I had about 1" of beer left on top of the settled yeast cake. Tipping the fermenter worked to get most of it, not all, but it did cause the settled material to stir up a bit.
It could be thicker but strong enough.
Love that it is clear.
Love that there are accessories available at reasonable prices.
Overall, I like it and would get another.

I would recommend against this product
Based on the size of the opening at the top and the long shape, it is impossible for most people to put the gasket on the inside of the fermenter. You need a tool to add the back piece but it doesnt work for the gasket. The opening is for the spigot is a bit larger than it needs to be so it will allow for leakage despite the outside gasket. Unfortunately, it is too late for me to return it but really wish I could. Save yourself a headache and the the 7.9 gallon Speidel and avoid this one.

Using the spigot
At the end of every brew there are dreggs in the bottom of the carboy. The spigot allows you to runoff the product without disturbing the dreggs. Cause even the sifon tools allows dreggs to get in your bottling.

Excellent fermenter
The fermentation went well with no leaks or blow over. The transfer to the keg was also straightforward with the spigot. I used an inline strainer, but that was hardly necessary with this brew since the spigot was above the trub. Cleaning the lightweight FerMonster was especially easy with the large mouth, and everything rinsed off easily from the smooth sides. I would definitely recommend this product.
