  • Plate Filter Plate Filter

    Beer Filter - Plate Filter

    25 reviews

Filter beer like the pros, only on a smaller scale. Most small breweries and wineries use a large plate filter system to achieve clear beer or wine. Now you can do the same at home. Our new plate filter has a larger surface area, which means more yeast and particulate extraction. Each filtering session requires two filter pads at a time, and each pad must be the same micron to work. The product is pushed into the housing at 5 PSI and passes on either side of the plate filter housing, then gets forced through the filter pads to the center, where it is pushed out into your awaiting collection vessel, such as a keg or tank. Includes 2 X 24" long hoses (5/16" ID x 7/16" OD) Made from ABS plastic. Temperature rated to 167°F (75°C).

Due to high demand, this item is currently out of stock. Be the first to receive your items by placing a pre-order today. We will automatically ship this to you when we receive more inventory.   The Gen 2 DigiBoil features two distinct updates that are not currently pictured in the primary images. The stainless steel lid has been upgraded to a glass lid, allowing you to observe and monitor boil activity. The rubber feet have been replaced with a plastic base that provides improved stability and slightly raises the unit for better ground clearance. Updated images coming soon. The most affordable all-in-one automated all-grain brewing system! Mash grains and boil wort in a single vessel DigiBoil electric kettle automatically maintains mash temperatures with the digital controller Dual heating elements combine for 2400W of power Also available with optional Recirculation Pump Kit! The DigiMash system represents the best value in electric all-grain brewing you'll find. With a 9-gallon DigiBoil electric kettle and the DigiMash stainless steel mashing accessory pack included, this is by far the most affordable way to get into electric all-grain brewing. It may not have all the bells and whistles of the BrewZilla, but it does have everything you need to mash and boil all in one unit. Setting up and using the DigiMash couldn't be easier. Simply place the false bottom inside the kettle and install the malt pipe, fill with water and heat to your desired strike temperature, then add your grain and set your desired mash temperature on the digital controller. Once your mash is complete, lift up the malt pipe, drain the wort and sparge, then remove the malt pipe and proceed to boil. If you're deciding between the DigiMash and the BrewZilla, there are a couple of key differences worth noting. One of our favorite features of the BrewZilla is the programmable mash steps and delayed start, which the DigiMash does not have. You can still step mash by simply raising the temperature manually on the controller, but the automatic steps are a convenient feature if you want to set it and forget it. The other major difference between the two systems is that the BrewZilla features a built-in pump for recirculating the mash. Recirculation is a great way to improve mash efficiency, but it is far from required for a successful brew day. Using an external pump with the DigiMash is also an option, and one can be integrated for mash recirculation quite easily. Simply connect the ball valve to the inlet of your pump, and then connect the outlet of the pump to our Sparge Arm Assembly. This model comes with the 35L DigiBoil, which has two built-in heating elements that run off a 220V plug. One element is 1900w and the other is 500w for a combined 2400 watts! The elements can be individually controlled, allowing you to use a single element to gently hold temperatures, or engage both elements to quickly go from mash temp to boiling. Temperatures are set and automatically maintained through the digital control panel. Simply set your desired temperature and flip on the heating element(s). If you have access to 220V power, this is definitely the unit we recommend. Although 110V power is enough to get up to boil, 220V will get you there faster and provide a much more vigorous boil. Integrated stainless ball valve comes with a 13mm barb (approx. 1/2"). The barb can be removed to attach fittings with 1/2" FPT, such as our female threaded quick disconnect. DigiBoil Features: 304 stainless steel construction 9 gallon total capacity Digital temperature control 220V / 15A power NEMA 6-30R plug (5 ft. cord) Dual heating element control (1000w and 500w) Heating elements are concealed for easy cleaning 304 stainless steel 1/2" ball valve with 13mm barb (approx. 1/2") Stamped-in volume markers (gallons & liters) Stainless lid Temperature reads in °F or °C With elements turned off, hold both +/- buttons to switch between °F or °C Recommended max. grain bill - 18 lbs Recommended min. grain bill - 8 lbs External Dimensions: 29" H x 15" W (including handles) Internal Dimensions: 19.5" H x 11.75" W ETL Listed DigiMash Upgrade Includes: False bottom Malt pipe Wire support Malt pipe handle Malt pipe bottom screen

  • Ss Brewtech - Motorized Grain Mill Ss Brewtech - Motorized Grain Mill

    Ss Brewtech Grain Mill

    12 reviews

The Ss Grain Mill sports an all-in-one design, featuring a hi-torque DC motor combined with a leveraged gear reduction system that drives a series of billet aluminum pulleys and high inertia rollers that make easy work of the toughest wheat and rye malts — Capable of up to 350 lb/h  Differential Speed Rollers Dating back to the early days of craft brewing, feed mills were often repurposed in breweries due to the lack of availability of milling equipment designed specifically for processing malt in brewing applications.  Conversely, in a home brew settling, corona mills, and other repurposed mill designs intentioned for processing raw grain in a home kitchen were adopted for their ease and accessibility.   Naturally, if you're feeding livestock or making grits, you typically want to pulverize the grain.  However, if you're brewing beer it’s preferable to crack the endosperm in several places and then sheer off the husk, keeping it mostly intact.  This shearing and crushing action maximizes both efficiency and lautering performance, reducing or eliminating the need for rice hulls or other lautering aids. The two rollers inside the Ss Grain Mill are both driven by the onboard motor, but designed to rotate at different speeds. This key feature is at the heart of our purpose built mill designed for home and pro brewing.   Machined Fluted Stainless Steel Rollers Other mills that are designed to pulverize grain, often rely on hardened steel knurled rollers to extend their usable life.  The shearing action of the Ss Grain Mill places less stress on the roller to effectively process the grain. We settled on the more professional approach of fluting the rollers, which enhances the ability for the two rollers to engage the malt and effectively shear the husk from the endosperm.  It was also important to us that this mill be functional in either a home or pro-environment, so we decided to cast the rollers in solid 304 stainless steel, with each roller weighing a robust 7.5 lbs.   Furthermore, the profile of the rollers has been completely rethought.  Most small mills rely on a wide processing envelope and a small, 1.5-2” diameter roller.  We have emulated the design of large production mills, and increased the diameter of the roller to 4”, and narrowed the processing envelope.  This design increases the rotating mass, and stores rotational energy, which ultimately helps to smooth abrupt changes in rotational speed.  Furthermore, the entrance angle is less aggressive with a larger roller, resulting in additional mechanical advantage.   Precision Gap Adjustment Eleven points of adjustment ranging from 0.5mm to 2.0mm open up a wide range of malt products. Gap adjustments are tool-less and can be made without any disassembly, or complicated procedures.   Extruded Aluminum Chassis The two piece extruded 6061 aluminum chassis promotes structural rigidity resulting in a more precise degree of roller alignment.  This is important to retaining consistent roller gap settings from batch-to-batch. Furthermore, the two-piece construction isolates the motor and rollers in separate chambers, preventing the motor and drivetrain from accumulating dust and debris. All rotational pulleys, and rollers have their own dedicated fully sealed ball bearings for low drag and long life.   25 lb. Hopper Capacity  The Ss Mill will include a custom tooled 4mm thick ABS hopper that is both structurally strong and lightweight. Designed to hold up to 25 lbs. of grain at a time, the Ss Grain Mill has been clocked in prototype testing at processing roughly 350 lbs. per hour of barley malt.  Which is roughly a 50 lb. sack every 8 mins, making it perfect for batch sizes from 5 gallons to 5 BBLs.   Features: All-In-One Design Differential Speed Rollers Machined Fluted Stainless Steel Rollers Precision Gap Adjustment Extruded Aluminum Chassis Specs: 350 lb/h 25 lb Hopper 0.5 - 2.0mm Gap Range 18" Width x 19.5" Height x 9" Depth Plugs into standard 110 volt wall socket. Please note: This mill is designed for use with brewing grains only. It will not work for cracking whole kernel corn.

  • LinkTech - High Temp Plastic Female Quick Disconnect (QD) - 1/2 in Barb w/ Shutoff Valve

LinkTech High Temp Plastic Female Quick Disconnect (QD) | 1/2" Barb W/ Shutoff Valve

    8 reviews

The LinkTech 60PS Series is a lineup of premium plastic Quick Disconnects.  These High Quality QDs are made from medical grade polypropylene, a high-strength plastic that is temperature tolerant 160° (Max!), and can handle pressure ranging from a vacuum to 60 psi. All of the 60PS Series will interconnect, and these units will also work seamlessly (and leaklessly!) with CPC Quick Disconnects of the same internal 3/8” flow path.  O-rings are a EPDM Rubber, and internal valve springs are constructed from 316 Stainless steel. This is a Female Socket, which can connect to any H501 Series Male Plug.  It has a 1/2" Hose Barb on the other end for attaching any 1/2" ID tubing.  This QD is equipped with a shutoff valve.   When not connected to another QD, this will not allow any flow.  While not quite as bulletproof as our Stainless Steel Quick Disconnects, this lineup does offer a few advantages.  These can be set up with Shutoffs, which will prevent flow when disconnected, and can be incredibly useful on Pump or Glycol systems.  The pricing of these products is more economical, yet the plastic is still medical grade. All in all, these are a premium lineup of quick disconnects with great features and lots of options. AlcoEngine Copper Pot Still Top w/ Barb Connections

    30 reviews

The Copper Pot Still is perfect when you want the flavor of the wash to come through, whereas a Reflux Still is more favorable for producing pure, unflavored spirits. If you want to make whiskeys and gins, this pot still top is a great way to start! The classic "V" shape captures the vital esters, aldehydes, and phenolic compounds that are necessary for the complex spirits such as whiskeys and gins. Made from solid copper. When your hot spirit comes into contact with the copper, the copper acts like a catalytic converter to drive sulfur out of the spirit. This leads to less off-flavors and higher quality spirit. This is only the still top and does not come with a boiler. This is only the still top and does not come with a boiler. Combine with a distillation lid to use a BrewZilla or DigiBoil as the base for this Alcoengine brand still top. Comes with 13 mm (0.51") barb connections for the water inlet and outlet. • Filter Sheets - Seitz K900 20 cm x 20 cm (9-10 Micron) - PLACEHOLDER

    Filter Sheets - Seitz K900 20 cm x 20 cm (9-10 Micron)

    1 review

20cm x 20cm filter pads made for 20x20 plate filters. 9-10 micron pads are considered to be a "very rough" filtration and are typically used to prepare the wine to be filtered by finer pads, usually either 5-7 micron; or also to pre-filter white musts prior to fermentation. Please note that all pad filters are rated 'nominal', meaning that about 90-95% of all particulate matter at the micron rating will be filtered out. There will always be a little bit of smaller material that is also filtered out, as well as some larger material that will make it through. The filters can be sterilized by in-line steam, auto-claving, dry heat, hot water or chemical methods. We choose to run Saniclean (CL27) solution through the pads followed by sterile water or a small amount of wine that is then discarded. After the solution is run through the pads, and the pads have softened, the filter will need to be re-tightened. Each pad has an entry side and an exit side, distinguishable by their different textures. The entry side is a billowy type texture, frequently called the "rough" side; and the exit side has a crosshatch pattern and is commonly called the "smooth" side. For more information on how to load filter sheets into your plate and frame filter, see our Guide to Plate Filtering.

Mash grains and boil wort in a single vessel DigiBoil electric kettle automatically maintains mash temperatures with the digital controller Triple heating elements combine for 3500W of power Also available with optional Recirculation Pump Kit! The DigiMash system represents the best value in electric all-grain brewing you'll find. With a 17-gallon DigiBoil electric kettle and the DigiMash stainless steel mashing accessory pack included, this is by far the most affordable way to get into electric all-grain brewing at the 10-gallon batch level. This model comes with the 65L DigiBoil, which has three built-in heating elements that run off a 220V plug. The elements are 2000w, 1000w and 500w for a combined 3500 watts! The elements can be individually controlled, allowing you to use a single element to gently hold temperatures, or engage all three elements to quickly go from steeping temp to boiling. Temperatures are set and automatically maintained through the digital control panel. Simply set your desired temperature and flip on the heating element(s). Integrated stainless ball valve comes with a 13mm barb (approx. 1/2"). The barb can be removed to attach fittings with 1/2" FPT, such as our female threaded quick disconnect. DigiBoil Features: 304 stainless steel construction 17 gallon total capacity Digital temperature control 220V / 20A power NEMA 6-30R plug (4.5 ft. cord) Triple heating element control (2000w, 1000w and 500w) Heating elements are concealed for easy cleaning 304 stainless steel 1/2" ball valve with 13mm barb (approx. 1/2") Stamped-in volume markers (gallons & liters) Glass lid Temperature reads in °F or °C With elements turned off, hold both the +/- buttons to switch between °F or °C External Dimensions: 29" H x 19.5" W (including handles) Internal Dimensions: 20.25" H x 15.75" W ETL Listed DigiMash Upgrade Includes: False bottom Malt pipe Wire support Malt pipe handle Malt pipe bottom screen NOTE: Due to the size of this item, it is not eligible for international shipping.

  • Filter Sheets - 20 cm x 20 cm (5-7 Micron) - PLACEHOLDER

    Filter Sheets - 20 cm x 20 cm (5-7 Micron)

20cm x 20cm filter pads made for 20x20 plate filters. 5-7 micron pads are considered to be a "rough" filtration and are typically used to prepare the wine to be filtered by finer pads, usually either 2-3 micron or 1.5 micron depending on the winemaker's tastes and objectives.

Beer Brewing Equipment Collection Article +

Home Brewing Beer Making beer at home is easy, rewarding and can lead to some amazing friendships & interactions. Like most people I started brewing at home with beer brewing kit from MoreBeer! The kit came with everything I needed to brew a batch of beer at home. Typical of most homebrewing starter kits, the equipment and beer recipe ingredients where for extract brewing. I know a lot of people that just dived right into all-grain brewing and there is nothing wrong with that approach. For myself and what I recommend to others as well is starting with extract brewing. It allows you to focus on a few steps in the brewing process as you are essentially starting from the boil. I think the old saying crawl, walk, run applies beautifully to learning to brew and most anything in life. By starting with extract you can focus on, in my opinion the two most important things in brewing; cleaning / sanitation and fermentation. Not to say can’t jump into all grain brewing and give these topics the respect they deserve. It’s just a lot easier to focus on and learn a few things at a time. After all you don’t eat an entire pizza at once, you have one slice at a time. Once you have brewed a few batches of extract beer a good natural progression is to try what they call a mini-mash. This essentially allows you get some of your sugars from mashing grains but still back it up with liquid or dried malt extract. Aside from allowing you to learn the brewing process in steps, it also allows you to upgrade your brewing system over time. Purchasing a complete all grain system can be expensive and if you’re just starting a new hobby it’s nice to spend as you go. However with systems like the RoboBrew/BrewZilla, getting started with all-grain brewing has never been more affordable and accessible.  When I started brewing these type of systems were not available though. Either way, most extract brewers move to all-grain brewing; as it allows you to take complete control over your beer recipe and intern the finished beer your making. Another topic worth mentioning is the social aspect of beer & brewing. We all know beer is a social drink, heck this country “The United States” was founded in pubs by revolutionary individuals. Sure it’s fun to sit back and enjoy a pint of a beer you made. But it’s even funnier to share a pint with friends and family. That leads to another great way to learn and improve your brewing, joining a homebrew club! For the first few years of my brewing career I brewed alone and only shared by creations with family and friends. It wasn’t until I was selling some homebrew equipment on the internet that I was directed towards joining a homebrew club. The person purchasing equipment from me asked if I was aware of the local homebrew club. It really never crossed my mind to seek out or join a club, but let me tell you; it was one of the best recommendations and things I could have ever done. Not only do you meet and network with likeminded brewers like yourself; the friendships that have come from the club have not only enriched my life it has my family as well. I know being social may not be for everyone, but meeting and speaking with other brewers is a great way to get More! out of an already amazing hobby! Regardless of your brewing path, be it extract or all grain or alone or with others; always remember to keep learning and have fun brewing, cheers!

BEER Collection Article +

What is Beer? Beer is a delicious alcoholic drink that is made by yeast, fermenting a malt sugar & water mixture that is typically flavored with hops. It has been brewed since the dawn of civilization, in fact, it’s even been credited for saving the world by some scientists and historians. The earliest evidence of beer production dates back to about 3500 BC. However, there is speculation that it was being produced as far back as 10,000 BC when humans first started farming malts. The ancient Sumerian text "The Hymn to Ninkasi" is a prayer but could also be considered the earliest written beer recipe. For thousands of years fermented malt beverages were being consumed by numerous civilizations, but none of them really resembled what we know as Beer today.  It wasn’t until 1516 AD in Bavaria when the Reinheitsgebot (Beer purity law) was adopted that it started to look, smell and taste like the alcoholic drink we all know and love today. The Reinheitsgebot is actually credited as the oldest food-quality regulation in history and is still in use to this day. It states that the only allowed ingredients in Beer are water, hops and malted barley.  Today, Beer is the third most popular drink in the world with only water and tea in front of it. Cheers to a long history, a bright future and another round of our favorite drink, BEER! Types of Beer One of the reasons it's is so popular is that there is literally something for everyone. Beer styles can range from sweet to bitter or even sour and everything in between. Beer is commonly categorized into two varieties: Ales and Lagers . An Ale is produced with a top fermenting yeast called Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This strain of yeast typically clumps together and rises towards the top of the fermenter. The recommended fermentation temperature range for ale yeast is between 15–25°C (59–77°F). Ale yeast is known for its higher ester production that is commonly described as “Fruity” and comes across as apple, pear, pineapple, etc. A Lager is cool fermented and produced with a bottom fermenting yeast called Saccharomyces pastorianus. This strain is typically fermented around 7–12°C (45–54°F) and then aged at even cooler temps for several weeks or up to several months. The original German word lager means “storehouse” representing this cold storage step, but now the term is synonymous with a beer style and not the literal interpretation. Less popular than the two previous styles, but none less delicious, is the Lambic styles of Belgium , also called “Wild” or “Mixed Fermentation” in regions outside of Belgium. These styles are fermented with a Saccharomyces strain of yeast as well as Bretttanomyces and Lactobacillus bacteria. This use of bacteria gives them a sour or “funky” taste. These three high level classifications are only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to beer styles. In fact, there is an organization called the BJCP ( Beer Judge Certification Program ) that was founded in 1985 to encourage the knowledge and understanding of the world’s diverse styles. As of their last published style guidelines, there are 34 top level styles with over 100 substyles categorized. And with how popular craft beer has become lately, this list of recognized styles will only continue to grow. Making your own Beer If you found this page and read your way down to this section you obviously love and enjoy beer. In our experience one of the most enjoyable beer is the one you made yourself. Not only is it very rewarding and enjoyable it’s super easy to get started making your own beer at home . You can start with just a few pieces of brewing starter equipment and make amazing beer. Just as types can be boiled down (pun intended) to two high level classifications, so can brewing beer. These types are called Extract Brewing and All Grain Brewing . Extract brewing is what most home brewers start with due to it requiring less equipment and fewer process steps overall. With extract brewing you primarily just need a boil kettle and a fermenter . A majority of the malt sugars you will be fermenting come from an “Extract ”, LME ( Liquid Malt Extract ) or DME ( Dried Malt Extract ) hence the name. With all grain brewing you need a few more pieces of equipment as you will be creating your own malt sugars from scratch using crushed malted grains. In most traditional all grain brewing systems you have three vessels, a HLT (Hot Liquor Tank), MT (Mash Tun) , BK (Boil Kettle) and a Fermenter. There is also a hybrid approach called BIAB (Brew In A Bag) that allows you to perform an all-grain brew in a single vessel. With extract brewing, a typical brew day takes about 2-3 hours from start to finish, whereas all grain brewing typically takes about 4-6 hours. Both types of brewing can create amazing results and have different advantages to them. To learn More! about brewing in general click the Brewing button below.
