Description

The BrewBuilt T.C. spunding valve will give you the highest level of accuracy when fermenting under pressure. Designed for use with the BrewBuilt X-Series Uni Conical Fermenter, the spunding valve attaches to the lid's 1.5" tri-clamp port where the blow off fitting is normally installed. It can also be used with any pressurizable stainless steel conical with 1.5" T.C. top ports. The polycarbonate cylinder that surrounds the spunding valve can be filled with water or sanitizer to keep your tank 100% sanitary throughout the fermentation process.

  • Adjustable from 15–30 psi
  • Made from 304 stainless steel
  • 11.75" H x 4" Ø

For Your Safety: Never exceed the maximum rated working pressure of your vessel at any time during operation. The fixed-pressure PRV on your conical should always remain in place while using this spunding valve.

The picture shows this spunding valve goes from 32 to 3 psi, the description shows 15 to 30 psi, which one is it?
Brandi King on Jan 29, 2023
BEST ANSWER: Neither. The description is completely wrong. The post, for lack of a better term, is graduated from 3 or 4 psi to 32. Technically, it is adjustable to less, but be careful not to loosen it to the point that it comes off of the threads, allowing the liquid in the airlock to drip below the seal. The same thing can happen if there is a vacuum or little pressure in the vessel and someone pulls up on the plunger. To protect against that, its useful to have a moisture loop (elbow off the Spunden device, to a tee, to a valve at the bottom and the tank's blow-off above); if liquid passes, it collects at the valve rather than going into the tank.
Be aware that the graduations are not precise, but close enough.
I have two of these and use them all the time to carbonate naturally.
What are the cleaning procedures for the PRV and spunding valve? Do they disassemble adequately for full cleaning and sanitizing?

BEST ANSWER: They are meant to be used in a scenario where you CIP, and they are "purged" during each of the steps of that process.

Heavy duty Spunding Valve
This is some serious piece of equipment. It’s a heavy duty spunding valve which could be used for commercial fermenters. But it’s also working great on my 7 Gallon fermenter ;).
Easy to break down and reassemble
