How is it covered to protect fermenting beer wort against infection?

BEST ANSWER: There is a snap on lid. Not a tight seal, not air tight, but enough to keep fruit flies out of our wine. We don’t make beer, so I don't know if a loose seal like this is alright or not. More like a jar lid that isn’t screwed down tight than like a Tupperware lid.
