Isolated from Omega's Hornindal Kveik (OYL091) culture, Lutra Kveik is perfect for brewing a refreshing pseudo-lager without the typical lead time of a lager. Works well at overly warm temp, but has its own flavor profile
I live in a warm and humid climate. I was want to try this out to make a lager in warm weather. This yeast has its own flavor profile. I lived in Germany for about 4 years and just love my Helles and Bavarian lagers. This yeast will change that "flavor" if that is what you are expecting. It makes a good beer that my friends liked, but it wasn't what I wanted or expected for a helles.

Don't expect 24-48hr magic. Do expect clean and clear beer after sufficient time.
I'm generally a us05 exclusive Homebrewer. This was the first kveik strain I've tried. I expected quick magic and decided to give it a try. I've brewed 2 batches on it so far. 1)an Oktoberfest/marzen from the liquid yeast and the 2nd another light Amber from the yeast cake. I expected a fast fermentation but got about the same speed as us05. I don't use temperature control. My first batch was sweet and took over 2 weeks until it dried out. My second batch was only a 4% abv and had a similar fermentation time.

I suppose my positive comments would be after additional time on the keg, the beers taste exceptionally clean and was clear within 2 weeks without any fining. US05 would routinely take over a month to clear.

I think I'll try other kveik strains, I'm very interested in the dry strains.

Use it everywhere you would use US-05.
I love this stuff! It has quickly become my house yeast because no matter how much you abuse it, it still makes super clean beer. It's the rough and tumble version of US-05.

Ferments clean at room temp and drops clear
Tried to see what this would do for a West Coast IPA. Pitched at 78, finished fermenting in about 4 days. Kicked it up to 85 for 3 day diacetyl rest. The beer is crystal clear without cold crashing or finings. Very clean and lets the hops shine through. No more temp control for me!

Quick Start at 72F.
I purchased Lutra Kveik to make Pseudo Lagers. The first brew was a Pseudo Helles. My OG was 1.047 and was estimated the apparent attenuation at 79% for a FG of 1.010. My actual apparent attenuation was 89% for a FG of 1.005. I fermented at 72F for seven days. There was activity in the blow off tube in 4 hours. I am going to cold crash for a week then into the bottles.
