Shall we brew a beer? Put down that can of Tab and boot up your brewing software, this Strata-forward double dry hopped pale ale isn't playing games. StrataGem perfectly interfaces Strata and Idaho Gem™ hops to execute a DDoS attack of tropical flavor with notes of pineapple, cherry, candied fruit, and a touch of chili-cannabis-funk. A clean malt bill of 2-row, oat malt, and white wheat runs in the background as 7 oz of hop additions overwhelm your flavor sensors. This cyberpunk pale ale might not be powerful enough to trigger global thermonuclear war, but StrataGem may very well overwrite your brew schedule with viral copies of itself.

  • Makes 5 gallons
  • Estimated Original Gravity: 1.057-62
  • SRM (Color Range): 3-5
  • IBUs: 30
  • Estimated Alcohol Percentage: 6.3%

I LOVE hoppy brews, and I had't tried this yet.

Second time ordering this kit. I had a party with about 20 people and all loved this beer. I only did 1 round of dry hop to minimize oxygen and did not use the clarifier.

Good product but No priming sugar
Sorry to see you no longer include priming sugar with your kits. Left me trying to find some close to my small rural community. I'll have to use table sugar instead. Other than this More Beer has never let me down, great company.

Its a winner
Been wanting to use strata and idaho gem hops in some brews and this one has got both. Nice combination, I would agree with previous review and spice it up with mozaic or even a dash of citra at whirlpool.

Fantastic IPA
I did not use the clarifier and only 1 big charge of dry hops on day 3 of fermentation. This beer really turned out well. I am impressed with how great the color is (hazy), super clean and everyone who has tried it loves it. I will be brewing this kit again!

Nice hops. Hazy combo.
I was disappointed to see the viking malt in this kit. The batch I brewed alongside had Briess. To me Viking is chewy and better served in a darker, maltier, more euro beer.
The hop combo was great with a very citra tang. Next time I would probably dry hop with some Additional Simcoe or Mosaic to smooth out the edges.

Response from MoreFlavor
Briess Brewers Malt is a great malt that we also love, but Viking Xtra Pale is actually a lighter malt and was preferred in taste tests on this kit. Viking makes over 50 malts so the flavor profiles of what you can get runs the whole spectrum. They do make malts appropriate for darker, maltier beers. However the Xtra Pale is a preferred malt by craft brewers for making Pale Ales, Hazys, and IPA (and combo there of). Viking Pilsner malt is the backbone of Carlsberg, one the classic light lagers. For darker lagers try their Vienna, Dark Munich, and specialty crystal malts.
