Description

Wire hoods are a key part of any Belgian-style bottling. Not only do they complete the look of the bottle, but they are required to keep the mushroom cork in place once the carbonation builds up.

Apply them easily with a Wire Hood Fastener giving the hood 5 1/2 turns.

I am assuming that these cages are for small Belgium corks, and not for larger champagne corks, although the description did not explicitly confirm this.

Are those the smaller ones that fit the belgian corks or the regular size that fits champagne corks?

Is the wire gauge so thin that it breaks when un-twisting to open the hood?
Nathan Huestis on Apr 25, 2021
BEST ANSWER: These wire cages are of a comparable wire gauge to any other that I’ve come across. I haven’t had any break when upending bottles and only a few broke when I’m a little over zealous tightening them down. I don’t reuse hoods so their long term durability has never been much of a consideration for me.

Works Great
I just bottled four cases of Belgian Strong Ale; I used a combination of 750ml Belgian beer and Champagne bottles. These wire hoods worked very well. The foil insert helps keep with wires centered on the cork. A single pull with a pair of safety-wire pliers and you're done! Will buy again.
