Description

Type A Camlock Fitting. Male Camlock with 1/2" Female BSP.

Camlock fittings are the preferred choice for many home and professional brewers alike. They have a higher working pressure and hold a tighter seal than quick disconnect fittings, making them less likely to leak while in use. Locking and unlocking the female pieces may require two hands, but it's a small price to pay for long-lasting reliability.

304 Stainless steel construction. 150 psi working pressure.

Do all the cam lock fittings fit each other, male to female, regardless of type?

BEST ANSWER: They *should*. In my experience, however, interchanging brands lend to difficulty in securing the connections quickly (or in one case, at all). Side-by-side, I can see a difference in the taper between the two brands I have. Hope that helps!

Yes and no. In my experience they can somewhat fit together but not well. The seal isn't always great because the actual cam mechanism can't fully engage and squeeze the silicone washer if they are different brands.

If by type you mean manufacturer, then yes. There is supposed to be an industry standard for all cam lock fittings. I have a bunch by at least three different brands and they all fit each other. Cheers!

Yes and no, seems like quality is a better indicator of how well they mate. I've used dissimilar brands with varying success

This item is listed as female BSP threads - will I need an adapter to fit on male NPT?

BEST ANSWER: BSP is different than npt. There may be an adapter, i don't know. You can get that fitting in npt though.

They work but a challenge to get the 'butterfly to close.. Sometimes it takes working the fittings repeatedly until it is not so difficult. And it is a two handed operation

My recommendation is to buy the one handed quick release fittings instead. If I didn't have so many of the camlocks, and money invested, I would switch in a heartbeat.
