Description

Great for smaller kettles to do Brew in a Bag recipes or just for steeping grains. Made from nylon this bag comes with a drawstring and measures 15 in. x 15 in, with hole size in mesh of approximatley 0.4-0.8 mm is size.

How much steeping malt will this bag hold?

BEST ANSWER: This bag can comfortably fit over 3lbs of malt. You could push it to 4 lbs but we the water might not flow through freely enough to wet all the grain.
What is the micron filter rating?

BEST ANSWER: These bags are too porous to get a real micron rating. The holes are about 1mm wide.

Careful about the size
I got this for the brew in a bag method utilizing the steamer pot for my turkey fryer. The dimensions of the steamer pot are 11" dia x 13" deep. I purchased this bag thinking 15x15 would be plenty big to fill out the pot and have several inches of overhang to draw up the string nice to keep it in.

However, be aware the 15x15 is the flat size as opposed to actual size when opened. This is way too small for the puroposes I need it for, and will be looking for something else.

The bag ripped along the seem. I’m not sure if it was sewn right or if the 8lbs of malt was to heavy.

Good at keeping true out of fermenter!
I always do a FHW without the bag because some trub is good for the yeast, so I’m told. Then all additional hop additions go into this bag. Tie string to the kettle handle and good to go. Have done up to 4oz. in here. Can probably hold more.

15x15 mesh bag
I use it to put into a spider that I have where the mesh of the screen is too large for pellet hops. So I line the spider with this bag and I can dump 3 or 4 additions of hops into the spider.
