Description

Used to determine the level of SO2 in your wine. Contains 10 tests in the form of glass titrets. They can be used by themselves or you can purchase W510B which is a titret holder. Please keep in mind that due to some chemical interference, this kit is only accurate to within +/- 30ppm when used to test red wines.

Please note: the box states that this test kit is to be used with white wines only. However, we have found the kit can still be used for red wines as well. Titration tests are based on chemical reactions that cause a color change in the sample. This color change, which is much more obvious in white wine samples, will be harder to detect when used with red wine samples.

These test kits are great, easy to use and work 100% of the time - IF you use the 510B addon holder. Without, well - check the other reviews for all the folks that cheaped out and suffered.

Just Doesn’t Work
Don’t waste your time on these. If you can get one success out of a ten pack your doing good. The liquid transfer is almost impossible in order to reach end point.

Works well when fresh but product seems to be of variable quality
I have been using Titretes for a few years and have relied on them to make sulphite adjustments in white and rose wines. In the past they seemed to work very well but recently I have noticed slower reaction times for the color change even on freshly purchased vials. When they work they are great but they have not been reliable of late.

Easy and accurate
Titrets are very easy to use for white wines. Takes but a few seconds and a minimum of wine. Just be sure that you have the 'holder' for them, sold separately.

simple to use
Easy to use. appears to be accurate enough. A bit expensive since they're not reusable. But that makes them more convenient since there's nothing to prepare or mix, etc.

Does not work with red wine.
This product does not work with red wine and say as much on the box. However, it does not say so in the sales literature. So, consider yourself warned. I had to purchase the $282 kit designed to test SO2.

Titrets: good and bad side
We started using Titrets for measuring SO2 levels in white wine. It is a nice and easy to use instrument, but two negative comments:
a) It is impossible to use without titrettor.
b) Instructions are not clear enough. Total lack of pictures. We managed to use titrets thanks to instructions available in YOUTUBE.
Also learned a lot of other interesting stuff available from titrets people.

Quick and Inexpensive
I use Titrets to test for S02 levels in white wine. It always reads a little high, maybe 10-15% but you can correct for that error. I find it easy, inexpensive and I have never had a white wine develop bacteria problems when using Titrets to test for S02.

Red wines are considerably more difficult to test with Titrets unless it is very light in color as color change is critical for accurate reading. I don't use the product for red wines.
