Description

  • 2206 is used by many German breweries to produce rich, full-bodied, malty beers
  • A good choice for bocks and doppelbocks. A thorough diacetyl rest is recommended after fermentation
  • Activator Smack-Pack System™ "proofs" the yeast and shortens lag time when it hits your wort
  • When smacked, the Activator™ packet releases sugars and nutrients to initiate the culture's metabolism
  • Wyeast has been a pioneer in craft brewing for over 35 years and is committed to creating the finest fermentation products available
  • Although beneficial, cultures do not need to be activated prior to inoculation

A classic German lager strain that provides a full body, rich-complex flavor and excellent mouthfeel.  A perfect choice when a dry lager is not desired.

Used by many German breweries to produce rich, full-bodied, malty beers, this strain is a good choice for bocks and dopplebocks. A thorough diacetyl rest is recommended after fermentation is complete.

For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

Making a Dopple Bock. Need the high ABV.
Michael O on Nov 9, 2022
Because I bought from you before and it was not viable. Now my wort is just sitting there not becoming beer.

Authentic German Yeast
I have tried probably 6 lager yeasts over the last year, this being my favorite. Not the fastest fermentor, not the fastest to reduce the D but has a very authentic german flavor.

Munich Dunkel Lager
Used 4 packets for a 5.5 gallon batch of a Munich Dunkel. Pitched at 50 F and it took off in about 12 hours. Now holding at 38 F bulk temperature and still fermenting slow and steady. A sample after about 2 days tasted phenomenal, non-detectable yeast byproduct aromas or flavors so far. We’ll see how it goes!

Can't go wrong with wyeast
I made a tasty Boho Pils with this here WY2206. Didn't have time to make a starter so I just used an extra pack. Yeast was healthy, beer turned out great.

Review about MoreBeer!'s performance not yeast performance.
Ordered Wyeast 2206. USPS did not deliver. Contacted MoreBeer! by phone. Was told that the package was delivered and to contact USPS. Tracking number showed order was delivered to nearest USPS office but no other information available. Used the MoreBeer! "Where's My Stuff" link: (https://morebeer.com/orders). Was contacted by Morebeer! rep. via email within 6 hrs stating the order had been resent. MoreBeer! overnighted the yeast and it arrived within 24 hrs. MoreBeer! is now my preferred online supplier.
