Description

  • 3068 is the classic and most popular German wheat beer strain used worldwide
  • Produces a beautiful and delicate balance of banana esters and clove phenolics
  • Activator Smack-Pack System™ "proofs" the yeast and shortens lag time when it hits your wort
  • When smacked, the Activator™ packet releases sugars and nutrients to initiate the culture's metabolism

  • Although beneficial, cultures do not need to be activated prior to inoculation

The classic and most popular German wheat beer strain used worldwide. Produces a balance of banana esters and clove phenolics. Sulfur is commonly produced but will dissipate with conditioning. This strain is very powdery and will remain in suspension for an extended amount of time following attenuation. This is true top cropping yeast and requires fermenter headspace of 33%.

Will brew with this again
Yeast arrived room temp, and stuck it in the fridge a few days until brew day. Three hours after I slapped the bag and had shaken it, it was puffed up like a balloon, this was healthy yeast. I am excited to say that my Hefeweizen came out very drinkable, even palatable. This yeast probably hides a few mistakes that could be made along the way. I fermented at 62F for around 16 days or so.
3068 provides banana/ clove tastes

Good choice for a German Hefeweizen
Used this for the Moorebeer German Hefeweizen all grain kit. The beer was great.
Spend the extra money and buy the highest level of cold shipping. I did the ice pack and insulated pouch to Ohio and both were warm. Good thing I was brewing that day.

Best for a sweet banana kind of Heff

The Best Cider That I Have Tasted
I'm not sure if anyone else has used this to brew cider, but I decided to do it and it is, by far, the best cider that I have ever tasted. It has an extremely smooth and different flavor.

Very good German hefe yeast
Made a starter with 2 packs of 3068 since I was brewing a weizenbock. Fermentation started off quickly & within 4 hours. Attenuation was very good too & exceeded what I expected. The total time for complete fermentation was only about 1 week. Flavor and aroma are good & will be kegging the beer soon. Very satisfied.
