Description

Chill your wort without worrying about your hop additions clogging up the works! This beefy counterflow heat exchanger is made from fully passivated 304 stainless steel with 1/2" BSP male thread connections. Plate chillers are great for their high efficiency and compact size, but if there's too much hop matter in the wort running through them they can quickly clog up. Transferring wort from your kettle to your fermenter is one of the critical steps in the brewing process where you don't want any hiccups. This stainless wort chiller can withstand high hop additions without clogging issues and has a higher chemical resistance than copper chillers.

1/2" BSP male thread connectors. We recommend using with Type-A camlock fittings.

So there are Positives and Negatives
Ok so I bought this because I thought it would be easier to clean than the plate chiller that I just retired (picked up an infection and could not clear it no matter what I tried). The BIGGEST advantage of this over a plate chiller is you cant clog it with hops if you accidentally send some through. Second is ease of cleaning. The Biggest Drawback is that its no where near as efficient as a plate chiller. the lowest I can chill wort with it is around 100F (GW is about 60F). Additionally you can expect significantly more pressure drop off your pump vs a plate chiller.

Needs some design changes
Overall quality was quite good. The design needs some changes though as you cannot install an elbow on the water connection, as it hits the main body of the coil. Just one more inch of tubing to move that threaded fitting away from the coil body would have done the trick.

Cooled wort really well, but poorly made
The Bad: My first impression from opening the box was a little disappointment as the welds on this were of very poor quality and obviously contaminated. I also had trouble with the hose connection lines as they're close and really need 90 deg sweeps. The welds in my chiller had pin holes.

The good: It chilled wort really well. The good peeps here at MoreBeer quickly gave me an RO to send it back.

Overall, there are much better options for stainless steel counter flow chillers and at a lower prices.
Contaminated welds with pin holes.
