Description

Many home brewing aficionados prefer to cool their wort using a Wort Chiller 5 Gallon Recirculation Package, and we couldn’t agree more. MoreBeer! customer and friend Jamil Zainasheff invented this innovative system in order to create a fast heat exchange that uses far less water than a traditional wort chiller. The wort travels from the kettle to a pump and back into the kettle through a short, copper arm that disperses the hot wort into a wall of cooling coils, cooling the wort effectively and efficiently.

Because this cooling system recirculates the wort in the same vessel, you can continue to chill it until it reaches the proper temperature before transferring it into the fermenter. Simply add a thermometer to the boil kettle and you’ll be sure to get consistent results every time you use this recirculation arm.

Also available in a 10 gallon size.

A chiller will need to be purchased separately. This option works on our WC20, WC20A WC23, and WC23A, only.

I would like to fit the inlet of this wort recirc kit with a male SS quick disconnect. Any recommendations for a parts list to make this easy?

BEST ANSWER: Hi Geoffrey - You would have to solder the SS QD to the recirc kit.

Good addition
Cools wort quicker. Was a little difficult to align and keep in place with zip ties, but overall pleased with product.

Nice and simple equipment addition
This return tube can be added to make cooling more efficient. I have varied my cooling between a counter current chiller and a short immersion loop I made a long time ago. The groundwater temperature sometimes gets too high to use the immersion chiller. But I always missed the cold break dropout separation from chilling in the kettle. The simplelest use for this item is in pumping back to the kettle after immersion chilling. I added the countercurrent chiller in this line AND have the cooling water exiting from the CC chiller flow through the coil in the kettle. This uses water more efficiently. Once the kettle gets down to about 150F I redirect to the fermenter.
This item is well made with smooth bends.

no need for a plate chiller now
I was on the fence about getting rid of my immersion chiller for a plate chiller when i was told about this arm from a friend who uses it as well. This arm has cut my chill time in half at the same time creating a nice whirlpool, if you already have a pump then its so cheap its not even a thought about buying it, or if you don't have a pump like me then you have an excuse to buy a pump, i bought the SS chugger pump. The only thing i can say is it does need a better way to attach to the chiller other then the zip ties but at this price its not a deal breaker. I would highly recommend.

Does what its supposed to.
It comes with some zip ties that I used once then replaced with some copper wire. Once I had it attached to my chiller with copper wire this thing helped me cut my wort chilling down 70%.

Better than expected
I was surprised how quickly my wort was able to get down to pitching temp from boiling after incorporating this product into my workflow. Highly recommended.

Does what it's supposed to
For the price, this was far easier than trying to fabricate something myself. Along with a March pump this piece cuts down my cooling time exponentially.

Helps Cool Superfast
I couldn't be any happier with this whirlpooling setup. I would say that this method cut down my cooling time by 70% and the trub and such does find itself in a nice pile in the center of my kettle.

Doesn't stay in place
Creates a circular flow OK when in the right position. Needs a better way to attach to your chiller though, the zip ties get loosened by heat and everything being round and slippery. It ends up being finicky to use because nothing stays in place.
