Description

In a traditional wort chiller, the coils rest on the bottom of the pot and the hot wort on top takes a very long time to reach them, making the entire process time consuming and inefficient. Our original, simple innovation for the Immersion Wort Chiller from MoreBeer! is to move the coils right to the top where the majority of the heat is. This promises to give you the fastest heat exchange possible, to cool your wort down more efficiently and to get your brew into the fermenter as quickly and cleanly as possible. There is also no need to stir during chilling which reduces contamination and allows your trub and spent hops to settle to the bottom of your kettle.

The connection feeds on our chillers our bent out down at an angle so that if there is any dripping at the copper/vinyl connection point it drips out of the kettle and not back into your beer. Also works perfect with a kettle that features a notched lid. Made in the USA in our metal shop.

Specs:

  • 25' of 3/8" copper tubing
  • 8' of vinyl tubing at both the inlet and the outlet
  • Female garden hose adapter fitting for easy use with a garden hose spigot
  • 10" diameter, 8" to the top coil, 15" to the bend to go over the lip of the kettle

This chiller also comes in a water efficient version that uses less water.

What should i do if it leaks out between the copper tubing and the hose connector? Would plumbers tape help this by placing inbetween the 2?
Devlin Laurenson on Mar 15, 2021
BEST ANSWER: Twice I have tightened the hose clamps to stop leaks. No prob last several times.
What is the size of the garden hose adapter? 3/4 or 5/8"?
Christopher Beneduce on Apr 1, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The fitting included is for standard 3/4" garden hose fittings. Any garden hose or spigot will fit with this fitting. The tubing that it comes with is a 3/8" tubing.
What size is the silicon tubing? The outbound side was burned and I need to replace it.
Tony on Aug 2, 2021
BEST ANSWER: A replacement tube of 3/8" will work. Silicone tubing especially is stretchy and will easily fit and seal well on the copper.

Not a good design for water conservation
Did bring the temperature down but slowly and wasted a whole lot of water.
Would have returned it but cost me more than a refund.

Cools wort surprisingly fast. Stirring the wort helps out tremendously.
Definitely recommended!

Excellent Product - Still Need to Stir
This performs as advertised, aside from the fact that I get substantially better performance if I stir the pot every 5 minutes with a sanitized utensil.

Great quality, no leaks, and small enough to store in the tightest of NYC apartments.

Worth Every Penny
First batch i brewed took 2+ hours of active time, switching cold water baths. This cut it down to 30 minutes of passive time, just checking the temperature to make sure it was done. Absolutely worth it.

Good after leaks were fixed
Test for leaks before using! I thankfully set this up prior to needing to chill the wort, and three connections sprayed water everywhere. If your unit is like mine, you'll want to really tighten the clamps connecting the tubes to the chiller, and maybe even add clamps there as well. I used the faucet adapter for the source connection, and the washer that came with mine just isn't tall enough to create a tight fit with the adapter. I had to rip the washer out of my garden hose hand sprayer and double that up to the washer in this chiller's source connecter to fix that leak.

Once the leaks were fixed, it worked well.

I would also recommend bending the unit so it will be submerged in your boil. With ~5 gallons in my 8.5 gallon kettle, a lot of the chiller was taller than the top of the liquid. It still only took ~30 minutes to cool to ~80° F. It bends easily.

Works great with my recirc. pump use ice chest to function as a holding tank for ice water that I run through the chiller.

Good value
Second one I've owned. Both leak where the tubing connects and I had to tighten the clamps it comes with as well as add others to stop it. Takes some adjusting to get thr coils high enough to cool the upper portion of the wort otherwise it'll only cool the bottom. Effective/good value for the price.
