Description

WLP655 Belgian Sour Mix 1 is a unique blend of yeast and bacteria for making well balanced and delicious sour beers. Includes Brettanomyces, Saccharomyces, and the bacterial strains Lactobacillus and Pediococcus.

  • Optimum Fermentation Temp: 80–85°F
  • Flocculation: Medium to Low
  • Attenuation: 70–80%
  • Alcohol Tolerance: Medium to High (8–12%)
  • Cell Count: 100+ Billion

Should this cause a second fermentation? I pitched it on day 21.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, but how much depends on how much your primary fermentation attenuated. Even a well attenuated fermentation will have some sugars that the sacch can't convert. The Brett and bugs can consume more of these that are left after primary, as well as other more fermentable sugars that the primary may have tuckered out on.

This yeast and bacteria combo is great for almost any Belgian Sour brewing. I use this in combination with the Flemish Ale Mix.

Thank you very much for your honest feedback. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience. We offer ice packs and insulated mailers to keep the yeast cold during transit, but even with these products we are unable to guarantee that the yeast will still be cold when it arrives. This can be due to warm climates the package passes through during shipment, the fact that the ice packs will only remain cold for so long, as well as the range of transit times between states.

Pitching dead yeast will not harm your batch. In fact, the dead yeast will act as nutrients for the next yeast culture you pitch. However, we do understand how frustrating it is waiting for fresh, viable yeast while your wort sits idly by.

We'd be more than happy to send you a replacement or refund you for the yeast. Please contact our customer service department so we can work with you to remedy this situation.

Sours are us
It took a very long time for this to create drinkable beer. At first, can you say dirty sweaty horse blanket. Once done it was wonderful. Be really patient.
