Abbey Ale yeast is still used in two of the six Trappist breweries remaining in the world!  This yeast produces the distinctive fruitiness and plum characteristics. Excellent yeast for Belgian Ales, Dubbels and Trippels.

Abbey Ale yeast does best when pitched at 66-68F and let to rise up 1-2 degrees per day and hold it at 72-75F for 7-14 days. This yeast can dry out a beer no problem. With a gravity beer of 1.080 SG we recommend using 8g of Fermaid K (AD345) in conjunction with this yeast during the first 24-48 hours after pitch.

Attenuation: 73-78%
Flocculation: Medium to high
Fermentation Temp: 64-74F
Wyeast Equivalent: 1214 Belgian Ale

This strain is one of Vinnie Cilurzo's (Russian River Brewing Company) favorite yeast strains for his famous bottle conditioned belgian ales.

For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Enrtry level Belgian
A terrific yeast if you want a subtle Belgian taste with just a little fruit. Used it on a tripel and had a number of wine drinkers who really enjoyed it. One of my favorite Belgian yeasts. Can be a little of slow starter but attenuates well.

Great Belgian Yeast
The yeast took off fast and the beer turned out great! I highly recommend a blow-off tube or you will foul your airlock.

My favorite Belgian yeast strain
If you treat this yeast well, it will treat your beer very well. Attenuates very well to produce a slightly fruity and moderately spiced beer. Deep ester complexity. My favorite.

Belgian Dubbel
Currently working on the perfect Dubbel with my son. This yeast starts well, ferments strong and smells wonderful. Be sure to use a starter and stir with O2 after pitching. I am comparing this yeast with 4 others on the same receipt for best flavor in what we personally like. More later...

Clean and fruity, well-rounded
I used this yeast for a Belgian Golden Strong and then a Dubbel. Both brews fermented quickly and cleanly, leaving strong flocculation and a bright beer. Both brews had an intense nose, flavor, and tang of the characteristic Belgian yeasts - both also had a well-rounded (slightly syrupy) mouthfeel and a complex assortment of fruity and spicy notes throughout. The golden strong had notes of apples, pears, and light citrus/tropical fruit. The dubbel had the dark stone fruits of the malts highly accentuated for plums, dates, dark berries, etc. Given proper sanitation and yeast cleaning, I could see one starter propogating through more batches than most yeasts.

Nice middle-ranged Belgian
I prefer WLP550 and WLP500 for my Belgian ales, but WLP530 is still very good. Nice aromatics, kicks fast and hot. Watch the temps, easy to self-rise from 68F to 80F.

Abbey Ale
This is a really good product as always from White Labs. Just make sure to make a starter to make the yeast active and oxygenate the wort. No additives for me.
