Description

Our most popular strain is WLP001-California Ale yeast. This blend celebrates the strengths of California - clean, neutral fermentation, versatile usage and adds two other strains that belong in the same" clean/neutral" flavor category. Homebrewers have speculated that it may be a blend of the WLP001, WLP051 Cal IV, and WLP810 San Francisco Lager but this blend has never been proven. The additional strains create complexity to the finished beer, and will taste more lager like than just WLP001. Hop flavors and bitterness are accentuated, but not to the extreme of WLP001 by itself. Slight sulfur will be produced during fermentation.

Attenuation: 72-80%
Flocculation: Medium
Optimum Fermentation Temp: 68-73
Wyeast Equivalent: None

For best results we always recommend ordering an ice pack with your liquid yeast.

Please Note: When choosing an ice pack option beware that the liquid yeast will not arrive cold even when shipped together. Ice packs and insulated mailing options are designed to keep the yeast colder for longer during shipment, but they will not ensure that your yeast arrives cold. We will not replace liquid yeast that arrives warm. During warmer months we strongly recommend you choose dry yeast.

I was tired of using bread yeast for my home brew and was told that ale yeast brought out more flavour.

Good stuff.
Started off a little slow. I make sure my sanation is spot on. Overall came through nicely. I used it for a Cherry Wheat. I did not bottle but cornely keg'd it. Turned out great. Will brew with it again.

Flawless so Far
I've been brewing with this yeast alone for the last three years and have never had a bad batch.

Great Yeast
This is basically 001 and it works just as well, but it has a really nice lager like quality to the finished beer. The hops are not as forward as they are with 001 but overall I really like this yeast. I now use it for my pale ale after using 001 for years and I like the slightly different result. It does throw some sulfur during primary but don't worry, it will fade with a few days time.

Clean finish
Always a great yeast with many different varieties. This is my fall back yeast and never a bad batch.

Clean
This is a very clean, rapid yeast. I even had to lower the temperature to keep it from fermenting too fast.

Would use again
This was only my second AG brew. Brewed a pale ale, got less attenuation than expected. Cold crashed and use gelatin, beer is very clear. No noticeable phenols or esters(which is what I wanted). Hop forward aroma. Would use again, any attenuation issue was probably due to my lack of experience.
