Classic English Yeast
I have used virtually every White Labs yeast in 22 years of brewing, and this is one of my absolute favorites. This is a reliable and quick performer (especially if you bump it up a day before brewing). Wonderful esters, and a good, clean flavor profile. Works well with ESB and IPA, but also handles rye beers (10-20% of grist) very well. Highly recommended.

great yeast
I split several batches that I fermented with us-04 and Essex to compare. I found the Essex really dried things out ...much more so than the US-04. This was great for a session IPA but left my ESB tasting a little to harsh. I also had good luck with this one as my sach yeast in a Berliner weisse I had soured in the pot. Crazy krausen!

Best English Yeast
I've basically brewed with all the English Strains available. This one by far has all the best characteristics. It basically ferments clean and dry like and American Ale Yeast but gives you that traditional Bready, Nutty, Caramel, Fruity English characteristics. I've won 2 medals with my Mild Ale using this yeast.
