Australian Cabernet Sauvignon first garnered international attention with wine produced from the terra rossa soils of the Coonawarra region, displaying extraordinary fruit flavors with faint but unmistakable notes of mint. More regional examples soon made their mark, rounding out and diversifying the country’s take on the style, with Margaret River becoming known for their ultrafine tannins and complexity, and the cool climate of the Yarra Valley producing delicate Cabs balanced with fresh fruit and floral notes. Today, Cabernet Sauvignon is the second-most planted wine grape in the country, second only to Shiraz.

This Cabernet wine kit includes medium toast oak chips. Medium toast oak is the most popular toast level used in red wines as it imparts a complex balance of vanillin and spice along with a subtle oakiness typical of many Cabernets. The oak chips also help build body and mouthfeel.
