Wine Corks - 1 3/4 in. Acquamark Corks

Please select from the following option(s) to see pricing and availability.

The Acquamark cork line is a high quality colmated cork.  These corks have the ageable lifespan of Natural Cork, but are closer to the price of an agglomerated or overrun cork.

Colmated corks are Natural Corks that were not quite flawless enough to make a grade, but are then filled in with agglomerated pieces, resulting in an ageable, but economical cork.

Dimensions: 45mm x 24mm

I like the price and that they are basically real cork. I do wet them before corking which makes them go in better.

Will these work for wine that will be bottled aged for 3 to 5 years?
Dae P on Jan 3, 2020

These are excellent corks. I have used them both at home and at work and I would say they’re the best performing corks for the price. I’m not sure if they’re “rated” for 3 to 5 years, and the oldest bottles I have aged with these particular corks are only just past the 2 year mark, but I wouldn’t hesitate to use them for bottles intended to age for that long or longer even.

These #9 corks appear significantly larger in diameter than #8, will these work in standard wine bottles?
Michael Rettie on Nov 28, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, these do work in standard wine bottles. I use a floor corker and standard bordeaux style bottles with these every year without problem. The only additional comment I would make is the quality of these corks has varied. Some batches appear to have had far more imperfections and thus more filler than other orders. That being said I have never had any leakage or other issues and they appear in fine condition when removed several years later.

Great purchase
The corks worked well. Some cracked during bottling but that could be my fault.

These corks work well with my corker. I’ve bought them for the last several vintages.

Cork Trial
I purchased these corks along with agglomerated 1+1 to see how they would work in my pneumatic corker. These were too hard to be squeezed into the bottle neck so had them sticking out the top of the bottle - not good. I usually use #3 natural corks, and after this trial will continue to do so.

Value Recommendation
I purchased these Acquamark corks because they were recommended as the best value on the Home Winemaking Channel. Only slightly more than the synthetic corks I've been using, I like the look of them and I will be trying them out on my next wine.

Fine Corks - High Priced
These are great corks if you need high quality for wines aged a long time, like 5+ years. I just used them in a batch of Ranch 11 Cab. These worked very well in my "table top" corking machine and inserted into tapered Bordeaux bottles super smoothly.

But what's up with 25/bag? The wine kits make 28-30 bottles forcing you to buy 50 corks (2 bags) and drive up the cost unnecessarily!

For some cost savings, you can use Tech1+1 for wines aged 3 years or less, or agglomerated for wine to be consumed soon after bottling, like many whites and the Sangria type fruit/wine blends.

At least 1/2 of the corks leave a fragment in the bottle. Might be better if the edge was beveled a bit.

Not my favorite
Trialed a bag of 25. For the price and quality, I like the agglomerated corks better. My floor corker also didn't like these very much - hard to drive into my bottles.

Good corks
have used these for lots of batches of wine and I'm very pleased with them. They go in easy with a floor corker and there's no breaking when using a cork screw
