Description

Glass carboys have been a staple of the brewing and winemaking world for generations, but traditional tight neck carboys aren't without their limitations. Standard glass carboys can be difficult to clean after fermentation and require a siphon or racking cane to transfer liquid out. The wide mouth carboy is extremely easy to clean—simply removing the lid allows you to get your hand or arm all the way inside to scrub away stubborn sediment. And with a convenient spigot at the bottom, you can transfer liquid out of the vessel with ease.

Each carboy comes with a carrying harness and airlock lid.

Airlock Lid Setup:

  • Twist off the small red cap
  • Twist on the small white cap
  • Pour water or sanitzer around the small white cap until it covers the blow-off vents

How tall is the carboy? Is there an option without a hole and a spigot?

Does a #7 stopper fit in the lid? More specifically, looking to see if the Anvil carboy cooling system would work with this.

BEST ANSWER: Wrong. The center cap is a 1-in ID hole, so it needs a number 5 stopper.
What is the diameter of the lid? How wide is the wide mouth on the 6.8 gallon carboy?

BEST ANSWER: OD of lid is 6.5 inches. Inside diameter of mouth is 5 5/8.
does the spigot accept tubing over the end of it? need tubing to transfer oxygen-sensitive things like beer.

BEST ANSWER: Absolutely, this how I transfer from primary to secondary. Upgraded to stainless steel spigot for cleaning purposes, works great... opinion is kinda egg shaped, believe I use 1/2 I.D tubing. Happy brewing

Perfect for Kombucha!
This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. It’s perfect for brewing kombucha, especially since it has the spigot. 10/10 would recommend!

The lid won’t screw on.
The lid is useless. After one week and a blowoff, the lid refuses to screw down 100%.

Improper seal means trouble for your Mead.
I’m currently using the lid from the BMB and you know how garbage that lid is too!

Is there any such thing as a Wide mouth Carboy with a proper lid?!

Good for glass needs barb spiget
Great easy to clean for a glass carboy. The spiget should be switched to a barb versus the pour one like a lemonade jug. Switching is possible but careful with glass

Excellent Large Glass Fermentor
Excellent large glass fermenter. The spigot is great for ease of use for closed transfer and taste testing wine during bulk aging. Only negative is that I would like other options for the screw down cap for things like removing gas via vacuum pressure.
