Description

A high quality 10" filter housing is the central part of the filtering system you are building up from scratch. Whether you're looking to filter your water ahead of brewing or your finished beer prior to bottling/kegging, this housing will be there to hold your filter media year after year.

The same 10" housing found in our FIL32 kit. It has 1/2" FPT ports on both the "in" and "out" of the housing, allowing you to connect hose barbs, valves, or quick disconnects for a fully customized system. Can even be mounted on the wall with our Filter Canister Bracket!

For -pre-brewing water filtration, we recommend a Carbon Block filter.

For Filter Cartridges to filter beer, see our line of BevBright® Filters.

Please Note: This housing is for 10" filter cartridges.  Many cartridge filters are 9.785" long, and will allow some bypass if used with this housing. We recommend BevBright® filter cartridges.

If you are having trouble removing the lid, try this spanner wrench!

Temp range: 40 - 125° F

Max pressure: 125 PSI

Any issue using this as a fitting for the 10" water filter? I have chlorinated water and was concerned about degrading the fitting

Duotight Push-In Fitting - 8 mm (5/16 in.) x 1/4 in. BSP
Duotight Push-In Fitting - 8 mm (5/16 in.) x 1/4 in. BSP
BEST ANSWER: The fitting won’t have any issue with it for degradation, but there is a minor concern with it for design. First, the threads are not directly compatible. You’ll need a reducer bushing threaded 1/2” male NPT on the outside and 1/4” female NPT on the inside. Plastic recommended, get some good pipe tape like Blue Monster. Use three wraps, and be careful not to cross-thread it. The Duotight fitting is BSP, not NPT, though they are theoretically compatible. As it is a straight thread instead of a taper, the rubber sealing gasket at the base provides the seal, instead of the interface of the tapered pipe threads. You may need a small amount of pipe tape, but try it without first, you may get a good seal on your first shot.

Good luck, I’m really happy with these Duotight fittings, and am gradually getting rid of everything else.

Perfect solution for filtered water in the garage
I found this when looking for an inexpensive way to filter water for brewing in the garage. I also purchased the carbon filter (separately), and some quick connects (1/2" NPT threads, from Brewer's Hardware). Now I can connect it directly to my garage sink and have clean water without having to haul it from the kitchen upstairs. The flow rate is only slightly below the full rate of the sink, so I can fill an 8 gallon tank very quickly.

Works just fine
I wish the threaded ports were metal instead of plastic because I think over time this will wear out and eventually break but the rest of the housing is solid and works as advertised.

Used this to filter gelatin out of a beer and a hard seltzer I was clarifying and it works great. Both came out clear.

IT STILL LEAKS
Bought and installed. Ran new PEX line to filter. Fortunately, installed valve which I needed when the filter leaked where canister joins housing.

I ordered a second canister because I thought I may have damaged the original. New canister leaked in same place. More flavor was helpful on phone and sent silicone sealer and offered to refund. So far, sealant hasn't stopped leak.

I will disassemble and reassemble with plenty of silicone sealer and see if that works.

Andy - Try not to over-tighten and this should be leak free.

horribly leaky! Get ready for >20% loss.
the o-ring doesn't seal at all, so be prepared to lose a gallon or more of beer for 5G transfer. The thread is non-repeating so the o-ring will get pinched at some spot no matter how well you align it or how well you tighten it. I did several transfers and really tried hard to tighten the plastic top as hard as I could, but it is still leaky as hell.

Hi Oleg - Typically with these household water filters, the harder you tighten them the more they will leak. Try hand tightening, and then a little extra, also a good idea to add some CIP film to the O-Ring.

Seals fine, remember to buy attachments
This is just a big plastic cannister - filter block sold separately. Also remember that this thing has 1/2" FPT connectors, so don't forget to add two more quick-connect devices of your favorite type to your order.

I've been using mine for about a year or so, fairly regularly, as part of my pre-brew water treatment plan. I have chloramine-treated city water, and have been told that running slowly through a carbon-block filter will get rid of most of that, plus my downstairs water tap sometimes spits out rust (rental housing, what can you do?), so this helps on both fronts. The O-ring still seals well, the only drips I ever get are when I forget to seat my quick disconnect hose properly (or if I forget to open the valve on my brew kettle before I turn on the water-- woops!).

It's solid and durable enough to put up with mistreatment. Mine's usually flopped around, loose, between my sink and brewpot, so it falls over all the time.

Durable
Works well. I use two inline to filter my water. I smashed an oring once by being careless, but have never had any other problems.
