Torpedo™ Mini CO2 Regulator

THIS ITEM IS ON BACKORDER
Item currently out of stock
Description

A portable mini-regulator with all the features of a full sized regulator! Perfect for parties and gatherings where you don’t want to haul around a large canister and hoses. A lot of great features packed into a very small package.

The regulator has a range of .5-1.5 bars (7-21 psi). This means that, unlike KEG950 that shoots in CO2 at fixed pressure, the mini-reg allows you precisely dial in pressure and keep it there. It utilizes a disposable 74 gram CO2 cartridge, which is the largest size that can be shipped full. This is a two stage mini-regulator, meaning that it takes the pressure down from 800psi (cartridge pressure) to a lower pressure and then to your set pressure of around 10psi. Two stage regulators are the only way to have consistent pressure. One 74 gram cartridge will typically dispense one 5 gallon keg.

This is the regulator only. Cartridge (KEG962) and quick disconnect (KEG730) sold separately. KEG969 cartridges are not compatible with this regulator.

Please Note:

  • This product is only eligible for ground shipment in the Contiguous United States.  No air shipment or shipment to Hawaii or Alaska.
  • The mini CO2 regulator does not have an internal check valve. To add a check valve use the regulator with KEG729 or KEG741.

Is there a nitrogen cartridge compatible with this regulator?
James Turnbull on Sep 9, 2020
What does it mean by 1.8k in the back?
Francisco Rodriguez on May 11, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The bolt on the back that says 1.8k is a burst disk, sometimes called a rupture disk. It’s a safety feature. If the regulator is pressurized over 1800 psi, the burst disk will open and release the pressure so no damage is done to the regulator.
Anyone know where I can get an adapter for a standard 12oz paintball CO2 tank and what its called?
Joshua Korpi on Oct 28, 2020
Will this work with a 20 oz paintball tank?
Casey schmiett on Apr 23, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Yes, with an appropriate adapter. Most of the paintball co2 adapters have a 3/8th outlet, not the the larger size like the 74 gram cartridges. Most of these mini regulators come with adapter plates for both sizes, but I can't guarantee this one does, the description and picture only reference the 74 gram.
This regulator will work with nitrogen? So will it would work with argon cartridges as well? Thanks.

Torpedo Keg Pressure Pack - CO2 Regulator & Quick Disconnect (QD)
Torpedo Keg Pressure Pack - CO2 Regulator & Quick Disconnect (QD)
BEST ANSWER: Nitrogen and CO2 regulators cannot be interchanged because Nitrogen regulators are designed to withstand higher pressures and have characteristics specific only to nitrogen systems, such as a male thread with conical fittings. If you plan to dispense beer using Nitrogen, you cannot use a CO2 regulator.
Can I keep the mini regulator connected to my keg in the fridge for any length time? Like maybe two weeks or longer? Thanks.
Kerry Shaver on Jun 6, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Hi Kerry - If regulators are kept in the fridge, it can affect the readings. Take a look at this thread on the subject - https://www.homebrewtalk.com/forum/threads/co2-regulator-in-fridge.12661/

Proprietary, proprietary, proprietary. Once more, proprietary.
MoreBeer was out of the their 74g CO2 cartridge (KEG962) so I went to amazon to test some other cartridges since no where local sells 74g cartridges of CO2 and MoreBeer says the Kegland gas won't fit. Well guess what? MoreBeer designed a regulator that only works with their own cartridge so I wasted $50 trying to find gas that would work.

Couple that with really REALLY poor design work in the design of the way the CO2 cartridge would sit once attached. I have 2 different gas QDs (one bought from MoreBeer and the other from a LHBS). The one from MoreBeer would cause the CO2 cartridge to stick straight up because of how the QD threads on. That's not going to fit well in any fridge and it will cause problems if this is for a mobile setup. The old one I have from a LHBS has less threads so the cartridge sits a bit better facing down, but it's still at an angle, which takes up more unnecessary space.

This regulator needs a swivel head for the QD attachment and for the price I'm paying, it needs to be supplied with adapters to allow the use of standard cartridges (by standard I mean cartridges that are sold outside of MoreBeer).

Honestly, I bet I could use the KEG962 cartridges on the Kegland regulator and everything would be perfect. So note to future buyers, get the KegLand Core 360 instead of this.

Response from MoreFlavor
Hi Cane, sorry to hear about the compatibility issues you had with the cartridge and the regulator. Unfortunately, the cartridge you have pictured there appears to be the KegLand 74g cartridge (KEG969) which is not compatible with the Torpedo Mini Regulator due to the threading gap on the neck of the cartridge. The correct cartridge for this unit is KEG962. Apologies for the confusion, we have updated our product descriptions to hopefully make this distinction more clear.

Functions, brass adapter should be replaced
It functions, but the brass adapter's 1/4" female end is not tapered. It is machined flat with a flat silicone seal. Sure, one can tighten it enough to force the tapered end of your QD to bite into the silicone...hopefully, this flared 1/4" female, 1/4" male adapter I found online for $10 will fit.
