Description

  • Oversized corny keg, great for bigger batches and fermentation
  • Brand new, all-stainless construction ball lock keg
  • Stackable with ball lock quick disconnects in place
  • Etched In and Out labels near the keg posts for easy identification
  • Rolled handles for a comfortable grip
  • Made by an ISO certified commercial keg manufacturer with high-quality laser welded seams

Set your sights on a brand new Torpedo Keg! The patented, D794,899, sleek all-stainless design represents a new era of homebrew kegs. With features like welded stainless handles, the ability to stack with fittings in place, amazing quality and a great price we think these kegs will become the standard by which other kegs are measured.

Quality First
The first thing we at MoreBeer! check out is interior welds. We've spent a decade rejecting kegs made overseas because the interior welds have never met our standards. If a weld is not perfect and shows evident burn marks along with nooks and crannies it cannot be sanitized effectively. These kegs are machine welded and exceed our standards for quality. The weld quality is possible because these kegs made by an ISO certified commercial keg manufacturer.

Cool Features
Torpedo Kegs were designed to stack with Ball Lock quick disconnects in place and serving which is a cool feature for some brewers who have vertical space in their refrigerator. We also like the rolled stainless steel handles. They are comfortable to grab and will never come off like some rubber handles can over time. In and Out is etched near the keg posts for easy identification which is very handy when you are connecting lines in a refrigerator or kegerator and trying not to make a mistake.

Stainless Fermenter
We've seen a lot our customers having great success using the 6-gallon Torpedo Keg as a stainless steel fermenter or "kegmenter". The extra headroom that this size offers makes it a great option for fermenting 5-gallon batches. We highly recommend using CellarScience Foam Axe if you're fermenting in the keg. Foam Axe will help reduce krausen buildup, cutting down the chance of clogging issues with the ball lock poppets and the PRV in the keg lid. It should also be noted that leaving your finished beer on the leftover trub from fermentation for too long will eventually lead to off-flavors. If it won't be consumed in 2-3 weeks, transfer your beer to a fresh keg using the Torpedo Keg Buoy which will pick up the clearest beer and leave the sediment behind.

Overall for the price and quality, along with free shipping from MoreBeer!, the Torpedo Keg is an amazing value!

Will the 6-gallon Torpedo balllock keg fit inside? It looks like there enough space but you would need to use torpedo ball lock disconnects

KOMOS® Kegerator | Intertap® Stainless Steel Faucets | Fan Cooled Stainless Tower | Digital Thermostat | Casters | Regulator | Fits 1 Half Barrel Keg or 4 Corny Kegs
BEST ANSWER: I have a 3 tap faucet on my Kegerator and I am able to fit (Tightly) 2 Kegs side by side in the back and one centered in the front. Along with a forth 2.5 keg balanced on the back shelf where the C02 usually goes. I am using standard ball lock connectors on the Torpedo They sit below the top rim handle no problem. If you are trying to stack you will not get another on top of the 6 gallon due to height.
I notice that this 6g is a wider diameter. How will this stack with the other slimline torpedo kegs?
JimDon on Oct 20, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Fives will not stack on sixes.
Has anyone used this as a fermentation vessel? Seems like it would be a good size for 5 gallon batches.
Rob Jenkins on Dec 3, 2020
BEST ANSWER: Yes! I purchased the keg(s) as a fermenter and unitank. I've fermented and then served 5-5.5 gal batches of cider, brown ale, and IPA in these kegs so far with a floating dip tube, and it worked extremely well. The keg does seem to be a bit thinner than my other 5 gal corney kegs, but it doesn't really matter. I fermented a 5.5 gal IPA at 90 degrees with dry Kveik yeast and some fermcap, and only had a small amount of krausen come out of a blowoff tube connected to the gas post. I already purchased a second keg, and plan to buy more to use as fermenters for beers that turn around quickly.
What is the height of this with a ball lock quick disconnect on the posts?
Andrew Simpson on Mar 30, 2021
BEST ANSWER: The handles are still the tallest point with disconnects attached, so still just over 27 inches, 27.25" I believe.
What length of tubing is recommended for the Torpedo 6 gallon keg?

Torpedo Keg Buoy™ Floating Dip Tube
Torpedo Keg Buoy™ Floating Dip Tube
BEST ANSWER: I don't use 6 gal kegs, I use 5 gal and they have plenty of length for that. It's about 22" from the top of the tank at the beer outlet to the bottom of the tank. This dip tube lays on the bottom when empty so I would think if your tank is a little longer you would be fine. Note the description says it's 23.5" long tube so you should be able to calculate that against the dimension of your tank. If it isn't long enough you can always buy longer tubing at you beer store and make it your own length,
Cheers, Carl
Do normal corny keg lids fit the 6 gallon Torpedo keg?
Steven Johnson on Nov 10, 2022
BEST ANSWER: Yes. Nothing different about these except an e tra gallon of space
Does this price include the gas post, beer post and keg lid or is that an extra cost?
Ryan Seabrook on Feb 13, 2022
BEST ANSWER: It came with a steel gas diptube, a straight steel liquid diptube, both ball-lock posts and a lid. It is a complete keg out of the box. If you want a floating diptube (which I recommend if you use it for primary fermentation) that would be purchased separately.
How many gallons of beer will this actually hold?
Michael Gray on Oct 5, 2023
BEST ANSWER: The 6 gallon topedo keg holds 6 gallons if you fill all the way to the rim. I allow for head space for good carbonation & fill with 5 1/2 gallons.

Keg for Fermentation
I've recently switched to fermenting in a keg, so I purchased the 6gal Torpedo Corny Keg to ferment in (with and without pressure). It's lovely! That extra head space makes a big difference. The straight dip tube and height of the keg make it perfect for covering the liquid dip tube with a 21" 300 micron filter (with a drilled #6 stopper) from ArborFab. This allows me to dry hop loose and transfer without any clogs. It's also just nice having a keg that's completely new.

There's not much to say about a corny keg, but one small complaint is that the gas and liquid connections seem a bit cheap. The poppets sit a little proud of the surface. The keg holds pressure just fine, so these issues are merely aesthetic. I can't complain about this keg's performance, but I still think there's room for improvement, so I gave it 4 stars. If I'm being honest though, it's my favorite keg and I wish I had more of them! If you're thinking of getting one for fermenting in, I would recommend it! I probably wouldn't drop the cash to get one just for serving beer, but I wouldn't stop anyone else from buying one for that matter!

Love it
Very nice and larger than a corny... Perfect for fermenting in the keg... Would be nice if they added another ball valve on the lid so you can aerate or carb... would be nice to pump pure oxygen into the wort to kick off fermentation and then later carbonate it

Nice Keg
Ordered it... it came.. one of the posts wouldn't come off... called Morebeer customer service at 11:30 on a Saturday... it was a 5min call... they next day shipped me a new one on Monday (in perfect working order).

I have to say.... It sucks the first keg was messed up.. but the customer service more than makes up for it. Mad Props to moreover customer Service. I will be a customer for life because of this.

Great Kegs!
I really like the design of these kegs. They are light, easy to lift and transport and are sleek looking; torpedo like! Four stars only because I have had to replace the gas post on two of them. The post seems to be slightly larger in diameter than a standard corny post and will not work with my corny connectors. Replacement gas post solved the problem in both cases but a bit odd.
