Description

There’s nothing like the right tool for the job.

If you’ve tried peeling grocery store oranges to use in your Belgian beers and ended up with a metallic taste, you already know how important the right ingredients are. These Sweet Orange Peels are perfect for brewing and will not give you that metallic off-flavor. Instead, these sweet orange peels have an impact more like the flavor of Grand Marinier. Great for that added depth in Belgians, strong ales, and your special holiday beer.

Add about 1/2 ounce per 5 gallons for the last 15 minutes of the boil. Can be combined with Paradise seed and Honey for added depth.

the orange peel looks to have the white part of the peel. I heard this is nasty to leave on. Does this come with the white part on it?

BEST ANSWER: Thank you for your question. There is a small amount of that white pith on these peels. It is fairly minimal. The biggest impact on flavor and bitterness will be how long you steep the peels in your beer. We recommend an exposure time of 1-5 days. The best method would be to taste test the beer every day at least once and be ready to rack the beer off the orange peels, or pull them out of the keg as soon as you taste the flavor you want.

Cheap and Convenient
Zesting fresh orange peels is a pain. This product is inexpensive and easy to use.

I added 1 oz boiled in water for 5 minutes after primary fermentation to an American Pale Ale extract recipe. It added just a hint of orange and paired nicely with a 1/2 oz of Amarillo dry hop addition. The final beer has turned out great!

I may try soaking these in some vodka to make a sweet orange peel extract next time.

Orange Wheat
Throw this into your American Wheat at flameout and you'll add a nice citrus nuance perfect for summertime imbibing.

Beautiful Addition to my Witbier
Threw an ounce in with 10 mins left in the boil and this stuff shines through in the finished beer. Not enough to be overt. A nice subtle / sweet orange presence.

Nice flavor boost for wheat beer
Designed a basic wheat beer extract recipe for my non-brewing brother in law, this helped give it that great citrus flavor and aroma. Good stuff.

Nice orange peel for wits
This orange peel works quite well for Belgian style wits. It is aromatic and provides a interesting complexity.
