Few materials are more durable or more attractive than stainless steel, which is exactly what sets this Stainless Steel Wort Chiller from MoreBeer! apart from similar chillers. This chiller is made from 50 feet of stainless steel tubing measuring 1/2 inch diameter.

Although stainless steel takes a little longer to cool your worth than comparable copper tubing, its advantage is that it won’t tarnish between uses. Stainless steel is also much more affordable than copper, which makes this an economical choice that won’t sacrifice quality or real-world effectiveness. This stainless steel wort chiller also contains a brass hose adapter for an even more attractive, high quality look and feel.

The Stainless Steel Wort Chiller 50’ x 1/2” from MoreBeer! is made entirely in the U.S.

Note: The inner bend on the coils have small indentations that are a natural result of the winding process used during manufacturing. As an upside, these do actually help turbulate the cooling water to eliminate laminar flow (helps increase the cooling capacity).

I have a 12" opening on my keggle, and the product lists the diameter at 12.75". Is this the actual OD of the coil, or the overall product with the fittings? Will the coil slide into a keggle with a 12" opening?
William DeLeon on Apr 25, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I forgot to measure it when I got home...It's really wide and barely fits in my Spike 10 gal. kettle. I really like it, but I wish the diameter was a bit smaller.
I'm curious about what would be needed to setup the garden hose fittings for quick connects to a pump? e.g., initially would like to run from the faucet and then switch it out to a cooler of ice with a basic pump setup, but am fairly ignorant of fittings.
Michael Bell on Sep 4, 2018
BEST ANSWER: Hello Michael - That's a few fittings, but this may help get you started. CE24 is a universal faucet adapter that can run garden hose from the kitchen sink, it fit's most kitchen sinks. H500 are quick disconnects for garden hose, that should allow switching back and forth from different water sources.

This is by far one of the best in investments I have made. I have counter flow chillers but hate the cleaning. Some say it takes a little longer to cool with stainless tubing than copper but not enough that you find your self pacing the floor.

Love the SS
Works great. I love the 1/2 tube and 50 feet really does the job! I have a copper one but get oxidation from it that worries me about affecting my beer. I changed out the fittings to quick connect to match my system, but other than that I’m very happy!

What's the deal with copper
I didn't get a copper chiller. What I did get was a 15 gallon kettle that would take overnight to cool down to pitching temperature. When weighing the price of copper against the price of this stainless chiller, it didn't take long for me to decide that stainless was the choice for me. In practice, using my garden hose spigot on a warm summer night, this baby brought my kettle from boiling down to 80F in a little over 15 minutes. Would copper be faster? Given my limited knowledge of heat transfer through various metals, maybe. Is stainless good enough? You betcha.

Fast temp knockdown from plently of surface area.
These are heavy-duty high quality chillers. The hose connections make quick work of getting setup. Knockdown is fast from plenty of surface area. Stainless steel makes for easy clean up.

What a great find!
I think a plate chiller would have been a better choice, but I thought it was wonderfully made. It is perfect for the 15-gallon brewkettle I upgraded to at the same time, and thank goodness (because it would have been too big for my old 7.5-gallon kettle)!

Works nicely in my HERMS setup
I bought this for use in a HERMS style recirculating mash system rather than for cooling. I didn't like the idea of my wort going through lots of copper tube over the course of an entire step mash so the 1/2'' SS construction was exactly what I was looking for. I removed the garden hose adapters and added CPC quick connects in their place. Works great! I did notice a very slow leak on one of the compression fittings. A bit of plumbing tape stopped it. The fitting may have moved a little when I was fussing with the adapters.

I would love to see a completely stainless solution (i.e. no brass fittings).
