Notched Lid:
Description

Our famous Heavy Duty Brew Kettles are now fully assembled Mash Tuns! Each kettle has two 1/2" threaded couplers welded to them, a thermometer, and a false bottom. The bottom outlet is very unique with male threads on the outside (for connecting a ball valve) and female threads on the inside for connecting whatever you wish. Check out these features!

They Will Last a Lifetime!
Constructed from durable, long-lasting stainless steel, these kettles are virtually dent proof. Over the years, we have heard countless stories from brewers who have ruined their thin-walled kettles by dropping and denting them. This is no longer an issue with these beefy, super-thick kettles.

Tri-Clad Bottom
Our kettles are built with a tri-clad bottom featuring an aluminum core sandwiched between two layers of stainless steel. Aluminum allows for even heat distribution while the food-grade stainless steel is the only metal in contact with your wort. Even heat distribution eliminates hot spots, which prevents scorching of your malt and makes cleanup a breeze!

Seamless - Made from a single piece of metal
Our kettles are drawn, meaning the kettle is made from one piece of stainless steel. No welded seams.

Heavy Duty Handles!
The handles on these kettles are just as heavy duty as the rest of the kettle. This is because they are made from rolled stainless steel, which is strong and easy on your hands.

Mash Tuns include a false bottom and a high quality thermometer. The 18-gauge stainless steel false-bottom features a perforation of 3/32 holes on 5/32 centers. This is considered standard commercial sizing. If the perforation is larger, you get too much grain husk material falling through. If the perforation is smaller you risk stuck mashes when using flaked grains or high percentages of wheat - especially when using a pump to recirculate the mash.

False bottom doesn't fit well
I bought a 26 gallon boil kettle, and the 26 gallon Mash Tun and have done about a dozen batches with them so far.

The kettles are great quality, heavy/sturdy, and the tri-clad bottom is definitely worth it in my opinion. The fittings are just what a brewer needs for adding dip tubes, thermowells, screens etc.

Unfortunately there were a few build quality issues with mine:
1 - the welds on one kettle were rough which meant I couldn't use the threads on the inside to attache a dip tube. I spent a good chuck of time with a grinder carefully fixing the weld job so the threads were usable.

2 - the false bottom does not fit particularly snugly around the edges. There is enough of a gap that after a mash there is 1-2 cups of grain under the false bottom. By re-circulating the wort still comes clear but I expected little to no grain to pass the false bottom.

3 - the false bottom did not sit high enough to cover the outlet. About 1/4" of the outlet fitting was showing ABOVE the false bottom. I tried the false bottom in both kettles and at all angles with the same result. The solution was to add a fitting on the inside for the false bottom to rest on, but it wouldn't have worked without it.

Overall good size kettles, good value, but the customizations that set these apart from a restaurant stock pot and some DIY still required the DIY to make them really usable...

Great quality
Been using it for a couple years now and it is integral to my system. I can squeeze a barrel out of it at medium gravity. Couple tiny little pits that sand out easy enough after heavy use, but overall good piece. Wish it wasn't so expensive, but i've definately got my monies worth.

Great kettle
Welds are all perfect. Waiting at my doorstep double boxed, pot was great. Used it 4 times now, no issues, mash drains great.

I can't wait to buy 2 more, I need a hot liquor tank and boil kettle.

I will be buying these again

This is a fantastic kettle
This kettle with its triclad base allows for even heating. With my jet burner, I have scorches on my non-triclad kettle. Not on this one.

The kettle did show up a little out of round. However this was easily solved from the packing instructions.

My only real issue was not with the kettle, but I had a triclamp fitting welded on. Unfortunately, the first version had the wrong fitting and placed in the wrong spot even though it was clearly stated in the work order. The folks at MoreBeer quickly replaced the kettle with one set up for my specs and now I am back on track.

Solid!
This Mash Tun will hold a lot of grain! Allows you to make 20 gallon bathes of even high strength brews! The 1/2 inch female coupler is great for attaching just about anything to customize it for your individual needs.

I bought 2 of them for my new Herms System. I loved the quality and its strength.
