Description

26" x 1/2" OD stainless racking cane, 5 feet of tubing, racking clip and a hose clamp. Perfect for siphoning wine from one glass container to another glass container.  Great for carboys and demi-johns.

Is the tip of this racking cane removable?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, the plastic tip is removable. I use mine without the plastic tip
Guess I should have read the reviews. I too thought this had a pump mechanism, like the plastic one I have been using. Has anyone converted this to use a pump? Sucking on the hose would never work as a 'sanitary' option.

BEST ANSWER: Yes I use it in combination with a Self-Priming Shurflo Diaphragm Pump. There are five of us home vitners and we use carboys as opposed to barrels. Using just gavity feed to rack meant we had to move full carboys (20 - 30) from the ground to table height. After doing this for about 20 years, our tired old backs needed a brake. The pump system works beautifully.

No pump - not sanitary
I did not read well and thought this cool stainless siphon had a built-in manual pump like the plastic ones I had used. Was greatly disappointed. Instructions say to suck on the hose?? Not for brewing.

It was only half of what I need. I thought it I could siphon with it but I seem to be missing a piece. It is disappointing I am a very regular customer

I have been using 3/8" siphon cane and tubing, but recently purchased a wine pump that requires 1/2" tubing. Adapting the 3/8" to fit the 1/2" resulted in air sucking in. This cane and tubing work perfectly.

Replaced my plastic auto siphon
And it's a bit harder to get a good siphon going, but this one is easier to clean and I imagine that it will last much longer.

Great racking cane, clip not the best
the racking cane is great, it's Stainless steel so not much can possibly go wrong. However, the plastic racking clip that is supposed to hold the cane to the side of the carboy or kettle is fairly useless. It doesn't have enough halding power to keep the cane in the right position. You may need to somehow put a zip tie or something to keep it from popping out of the clip. Otherwise, a sturdy, simple to use racking cane.
